This was quite good for a first novel. Quite a lot about teenage boys and their surfing interest, for me a bit excessive but probably integral to the story. The ending did have a twist but you could see it heading that way. I don't think I will read this author's next book.

It is clever in how it drags your curiosity along from the start, it turns into intriguing, becomes compelling, and then it just drops the unexpected on you (from a great height, pardon the pun for those who have read it). Stunning stuff and completely enjoyable.

Loved this story, the characters were ambiguous, as in life, and the surfer experience was great for a non-surfer reader, I was there. Loved the mystery, and the lead up. Beautifully written mystery for present day.

I loved this book, it was pacey, kept me reading and wanting to read on and on (finished it in 2 arvo s in the holidays )
The main character was Australian and I assumed the author was too , but read in his bio he was not. He got the Aussie lingo pretty true to life . Loved the twist at the end , didn't pick it !

I had to hang on in there for the story to get more interesting for me. There was too much info about surfing at the beginning and I was confused between characters in both time lines. Still, by half way through it got more interesting and in the end was non-put-downable.

Interesting story. Because I am an avid reader, and I have read so many books, that if a book doesn't catch my interest in the first few pages I stop reading. This book caught my attention because it was so different. I feel that it wound down to quickly. Almost as if the writer was tired of writing and wanted to get it over and done with. Can't wait to read more of his books.

The ending confused me... it would of been great if it was explained more so I understood completely what happened. Hated all the characters (not due to writing but more their personality traits) but the book was very interesting... I loved it :)

Just finished reading "The Wave at Hanging Rock" (Gregg Dunnett) -interesting Book - Mystery, thriller and wave physics built into a good yarn which is brought together nicely at the end with a massive twist.
