Product Description

Beaches, sun, and swimming was what Whitney thought she’d get when she moved all the way across the country to the Atlantic Coast. It was a chance to start over, a fresh start outside the paranormal night human world she grew up in. She was ready to be a normal human; one who didn’t have to worry about drinking blood or all the fighting that went on in that world.

Perfectionist Sam did everything well. He protected his family and friends as he swore he would. He had jobs to help everyone survive while they hid in plain sight. He even taught swimming lessons. His life was perfect, at least until Whitney showed up in his town. Without thinking of the consequences, Sam makes a choice to follow his heart for a change. That choice changes everything, maybe for better or for worse.

After one year of getting used to her new reality, Whitney discovers that maybe she was never meant to leave the night human world after all. Deciding to take swimming lessons, she is paired with high school hottie, Prince Sam as her friends called him. That one decision changes her life, and she’s quickly thrown right back into the night human world she thought she was getting away from. The only question is: Can she survive going back?

5.0 out of 5 stars Another unique and intriguing world from BKM! 12 June 2017

B. Kristin McMichael has created such a unique and intriguing world with Water and Blood!

Whitney grew up in the night human world as a skinwalker, but was cast out to live with her aunt when she lost her shifting abilities. As an outcast her entire life, she feels like she'll never truly fit in, but starts to enjoy living in the day human world among other day humans. After a year as a normal human, her world is turned upside down yet again and she's forced into a night human world she was taught to believe was extinct.

Water and Blood has strong main characters in Whitney and Sam, and I LOVE the alternating narratives from the two. My favorite books have MCs with strength, stubbornness, and compassion. This is obviously one of my new favorites and it will be yours, too. Excuse me while I start book 2, Songs and Fins, immediately.

This is a very well written book. I was hooked from the beginning. I would highly recommend it to anyone but mostly young adults. I never tell what is inside, for that is for you to find out. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Can't wait for the next one. Going to read some other books from this author.

I like to theme my summer reading. This is my second summer to have the mermaid theme. I sometimes leave my themes chasing new favorite authors, as will the case here.
B. Kristin McMichael has absolutely captivated me with Water and Blood. It amazes me when an author comes up with a new angle on an old idea. I fell in love with the characters and could not stop reading! When life insisted I be doing something else, all I could think about was the book I couldn't be reading at the time. I'm sure once I finish this trilogy I will finish reading everything this author has written!
(The Chalcedony Chronicles teaser has me already anticipating!)
5.0 out of 5 stars ... you and say that I was unsure I would enjoy this book being a mermaid book - I hadn't ... 14 June 2017

I'll be 100% honest with you and say that I was unsure I would enjoy this book being a mermaid book - I hadn't read this type of book before, and I was not entirely sure what to expect, but I'll tell you that I LOVED IT! This book is split between sea and land, and is a shifter book if that helps you make a decision on whether or not to pick up this series. I've read other series by BKM, and enjoyed them, so I took a chance and read this and I'm so glad that I did. The characters and character development are great, the world building is beautiful and the story is well edited. Five stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well done Miss McMichael 22 November 2016

Another fun trip into Nighwalker land. Looking forward to the rest of the story. Want Very much to see Tim either find a love that turns him head over tail, or barring that see him get his comeuppance.
