I loved this couple. The hero was a big, strong, domineering barbarian and she was a gorgeous, witty, strong and capable female warrior. There were no unnecessary angst and overblown misunderstanding. Just a nice romance with ample character development, chemistry with a generous heaping of dominance, temper and jealousy (where one laughs at the other's jealous behavior at times) There was action and drama also. A great fun read
I first read this book when I borrowed it from the library. It made such an impact that I had to buy it for a keeper to put on my bookshelf with all my other Johanna Lindsey books. I thought I had mistaken the author at first as it is written as a sci fi romance. It was different to all the other books Johanna had written but that just makes it more satisfying to read. As the first sci fi book of hers I have read. I thought it a great roller coaster ride. She makes it seem so easy to write about anywhere in anytime. Her ideas are wonderfully inventive and she brings such great ideas into play, showing us her great gift can take us anywhere within the wide and wonderful scope of her imagination but still keeps us firmly fixed on the plot and passionate encounters between her main characters.
The hero and heroine are so funny together when they first meet. Martha and her droll comments were an extra surprise, that had me laughing out loud. This fantasy romance in a different universe is a treat for Johanne Lindsey fans. I do love her other books in historical settings but this one made a delightful change and I loved it from beginning to end. It would be great if Johanna wrote more books like these. With a great universe out there, who knows where Johanna could take us next.
Story was very different in it's angle yet still the wonderful romance you can expect of the traditional Johanna. I say this because I haven't read ones of Ms Lindsey's books in over 20 years. This is no reflection on her books why there was such a gap, just that this was the type of book I preferred back then and my taste changed....But this read has enflamed (excuse the mushy pun) my interest again. I do wish that I had read this before book 2 but actually it didn't disappoint to know how their relationship turned out long term, I mean you know the plot will end ******** of course you do if your into these types of novels! This also is more humorous than other ones I can remember, the characters are really great and yes you can't help falling in love with this hunky and tender hero and her strong heroine set in the unique futuristic universe, great twist on the historical romance so favoured by the author.
First read this book in print years ago - characters, plot etc well thought out - especially interaction between the barbarians and the female warrior from another planet with a talking computer that talks like a human with a sarcastic sense of humour. Really enjoyed this book then and still do now. This one's a keeper for me. If you read this and enjoy it - try the Mallory series by this author.
Two strong characters, learning about each other, challenging beliefs and boundaries. Sexy alpha males and a kickass heroine, great read for fan's of romance other worlds genre. Humorous, sexy, erotic, passion and much much more.
Johanna Lindsey is hard to beat for her books, I would highly recommend this book to you.
I love this book series. I wished Ms Lindsey would write more books about the Ly-san-ter family. I have read all three books at least three times. I found the first book the best of all. I could not put it down.
