Even though this book was published in 1983, it was riveting. Ann Rule has a unique style of writing that just pulls you in, and makes you want to read her books from start to finish. Harvey Carignan was a walking talking killing machine, who seemed to get away with murder after murder due to legal loopholes. He met some of his victims by chance, and some because of fake want ads that he posted in the newspaper. One of his tragic victims was 16 year old Kathy Miller. The police knew that he was guilty, but it took them years to finally get a conviction. And by that time, he had senselessly killed many more young girls and young women. Ann Rule's description of this cold blooded murderer is detailed and very realistic. When you see his photos, he actually looks like Jack the Ripper. Ann also shows a lot of compassion and insight towards the victims and their families. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes true crime books.
