Product Description

All Charlotte wanted was to avoid scandal. Instead, she was caught in the arms of a mysterious, handsome lord...and he's not letting go.

On the night of the Parkhurst ball, someone had a scandalous tryst in the library.

Was it Lord Canby, with the maid, on the divan? Or Miss Fairchild, with a rake, against the wall? Perhaps the butler did it.

All Charlotte Highwood knows is this: it wasn't her. But rumors to the contrary are buzzing. Unless she can discover the lovers' true identity, she'll be forced to marry Piers Brandon, Lord Granville--the coldest, most arrogantly handsome gentleman she's ever had the misfortune to embrace. When it comes to emotion, the man hasn't got a clue.

But as they set about finding the mystery lovers, Piers reveals a few secrets of his own. The oh-so-proper marquess can pick locks, land punches, tease with sly wit . . . and melt a woman's knees with a single kiss. The only thing he guards more fiercely than Charlotte's safety is the truth about his dark past.

Their passion is intense. The danger is real. Soon Charlotte's feeling torn. Will she risk all to prove her innocence? Or surrender it to a man who's sworn to never love?

This has been a fun read with enough trials and tribulations to have our two main characters fall in love. There are some very funny sections and a delightful cast of "extras".

I just want to have a gripe about the price of this book before I describe how great it is. 'Do You Want to Start a Scandal' costs three times as much as Callie Hutton's wonderful 'Seducing the Marquess' but the quality is the same. I would have been happy to pay more for the Callie Hutton book and less for the Tessa Dare one.

'Do You Want to Start a Scandal' is a witty character driven book. It is so engaging I missed my bedtime, but I'm not sure why. There is no big plot, instead it's about a relationship between two ill matched people. Young boisterous Charlotte tries to warn Piers (Lord Brandon) of her mother's machinations to get them married. In the process Charlotte and Piers accidentally get caught in a compromising position and are forced into an engagement. But Charlotte is determined to rescue Piers from the horrid situation she has put him in.

What carries the book is the personality of Charlotte, one of the most likeable characters ever. She is incredibly witty and a loyal friend as well. The banter between Charlotte and Piers is the stuff that romcom writers can only dream about, warm funny and sexy. Underneath the banter is a layer of emotional depth that unfolds layer by layer making this a completely satisfying read. So yes I do recommend it but for a similarly entertaining read at a much better price try 'Seducing the Marquess'

After reading reviews thought this would be a good read, but was disappointed. Lacked a decent story line and where a plot could have developed, it didn't. Annoyed enough to ask for my money back.

I love all Tessa Dare's books that relate to anyone from Spindle Cove. They are light and fun and humorous and just allow you to get lost back in the 19th century for a short time. Tessa has a great writing style that allows the story to flow easily that keeps you interested and keeps you up late at night because you just want to be involved a little bit more.
