Product Description

The evil Goldotti are gone. The Earth is saved. Walter is a hero. So why is he not living happily ever after? Because the Galactic Rangers, the most powerful force in the galaxy, have been unwittingly creating holes in the very fabric of the universe as their ships travel through the dark space beneath it. Until now, these holes have been too small to have any effect, but an engine malfunction on Scout Ship Gamma has ripped a massive hole in space and time that threatens to destroy the Earth. So once again, the world needs a hero, but has to settle for an ordinary man — Walter Stickle. Follow his adventures in this latest episode as he travels through the hole in the universe to save the world from certain doom.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fast-moving turnpike of a novel 22 April 2015
By Anthony Palermo - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
When we last left our hero, Walter Stickle, the Goldotti creepies had been vanquished, but, well, there was a hole in the Universe which, if left unrepaired would lead to the demise of everything Walter had worked so hard to restore: his home in Pitville, his 6:03 AM wake ups at 103 Goldfinch Lane, Mrs. Giamotti’s donuts, his office job at Social Security…and Vivien, his beautiful lady from…um, er…another part of the galaxy. [Stiff and straight-laced goes only so far.]

Now he’s famous [even endorsed for mayor by the current office holder], with one last supermission to accomplish, and a sendoff worthy of a knight in shining armor. His craft, the Odyssey, curls and shimmers space as he dives into a singularity…

And wakes up back in Pitville; but this one’s dark and desolate. No lights, no heat. And no Vivien. But what about that 7 year old girl hiding in the dark recesses of his house?

Once again, Larry Enright’s convoluted mind has taken me where I least expected. Where are the myriad spacecraft blazing across the sky? Or evil doers, thwarting Stickle’s every move? Well, not so fast. First, who is this little creature holed up on Goldfinch Lane? And why doesn’t anyone believe Walter is the Stickle we’re sure he is?

As with almost every other story Larry’s told, he coils the plot threads tightly in a box, as it were, only to have them spring out, surprise on top of surprise, until it seems impossible they’ll coalesce in a satisfying finish.

He’s done it again.

Walter’s a criminal. Walter’s the President. Walter learns to “sing” Argonian – that’s an alien language, no spoken words necessary. Walter’s alien half [yeah, he got one of those last time] fixes and pilots a spaceship. Along the way, he meets his father- & mother-in-law. [Yep, he has to be married for that.] Alien friends die and are resurrected. All in the context of 2 universes…

Speaking to the little girl, Walter says, “Sweetie, someone once told me life was like a jigsaw puzzle. Everyone in it is a piece, and they all fit together, except for me. He said I was a leftover from a different puzzle entirely, that I didn’t fit….He was a terrible man, but he was right. I don’t fit. I don’t belong to your world. More than anything I’d like to be…” The rest is a spoiler I’ll resist.

Tying these elements together into a non-confusing, action oriented turnpike of a novel seemed to me darn near impossible. But Larry did it. I dropped 3 other books to finish this one. Well worth it.
5.0 out of 5 stars Truly fun summer read 27 September 2016
By James R. Kachik - Published on Amazon.com

These books get 5 stars for cuteness and entertainment value. While the plot twists might be viewed as more "how does he escape this? " devices that sometimes strain credibility, it all works at the end. I found myself reminiscing about threads that reach back to the days of Buck Rogers, Kavalier and Klay, and of course, The Hitchhiker's Guide series....and those absurd plots, which always seemed to resolve in favor of the good guys (not a bad thing depending on the author's intent, yes? ).
Great fun and good read all the way.
5.0 out of 5 stars This is Great!!!! 18 February 2017

This has everything; heartfelt emotion, twists of fate, betrayal, and displays of loyalty. This is a worthy successor to the previous Walter Stickle books that shows that hero's aren't always macho Arnold wannabes or Captain Kirk knockoffs!

Read this....it'll be fun!!!!

A touching, wonderful addition to the Walter Stickle universe of tales. A heartwarming journey through an imaginative realm that feels as real as it does to Walter.
