A cute rhyming story to read aloud to young children - the jaunty verse will encourage them to read along or independently too. Good educational value on the topic of penguins, animal life in the Galapagos (because that's where Wally goes to warm up), and geography, and a great jumping-off point for further nature study, whether in the classroom or at home. Good value too.
I received a free copy of the book from the author in return for an honest review. I've put a more detailed review on my book blog, debbieyoungsbookblog dot com.

As happy as a penguin in the sunshine!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 24 January 2015Verified Purchase
Firstly this was a fun book to read with its bouncing rhymes and colourful pictures. It's nice to find a picture book that's as fun for the grown-up reading, as the children listening. My little ones enjoyed following Wally the penguin's adventures around the Galapagos Islands and we found it interesting to see a collection of creatures very different to those usually featured in children's books. This is a good bedtime story but perhaps better read in the day when you have time to answer all the questions from inquisitive little ones, that this story provokes.

A Penguin I Can Relate To!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 24 April 2014Verified Purchase
Wally is a penguin I can relate to! He prefers the sun and sand of warmer climes to the ice and cold of the Antarctic! The amusing rhyming story introduces very young children to some of the unusual creatures that live on the Galapagos Islands and shows where they are on a cleverly drawn map. The colourful illustrations complement the text beautifully and I particularly liked the shivery lettering on the cover.
