It has been a while since we have had a new book from CP Smith, but picking up one of her books is like coming home. It is like putting on a pair of comfy slippers and relaxing on the couch.

You kind of know what to expect with her stories, but the journey she takes you on is always a bit unexpected.

Wallflowers: Three of a Kind is the first in the Wallflowers series and as well as being a beautiful story in its own, it is a great set up for the next two books.

Calla Lily - Cali and Devin's relationship is full of fun, laughs and sexy times, along with plenty of betrayal, frustrations and aggravation. But through everything that is happening - it is a CP Smith novel, you know there is going to be plenty of sh!t going down - they are able to forge a friendship, a relationship, love.

There are so many great characters in this book. From Cali's aunts to her two new and best friends - the other wallflowers - you can't help but smile and get taken along on the adventure with them.

I love the friendship between the Wallflowers - Cali, Poppy and Sienna. We all need friendships like theirs in our lives.

There is also plenty of suspense, and I have to say, I am usually pretty good at picking who the bad guys are in the books I read but this time I had no idea!

Ms Smith has woven a beautiful, heartfelt story about love and friendships. The story flowed, it felt like I had known these characters my whole life, and even though events happen over the space of about a week, this did not feel like an insta-love kind of relationship.

I can't wait for the next in the Wallflowers series.

I was just so excited to receive this most amazingly new book from one of my all time favourite authors, C.P. Smith. Such a beautiful, and truly a winning, sexy and romantic stories of all time. I was so thrilled to read and enjoy this one so completely!

This most wonderful and poetic form of the truest beauty in this entire world. Just like those gorgeous flowers, all around in the garden set in heat of the south, Savannah. We meet Calla Armstrong, who grew up with her extraordinary three most wonderful Aunts. They were all quite nuts who were always there to keep their niece, Calla the kind and responsible girl she really was. Whilst she enjoyed outside, reading her book and enjoying herself in the sunshine when she watched her most gorgeous new neighbour, Devin Hawthorne. He worked outside, cleaning their shared yard work.

Although, this is so sad as Cali is so shy within herself. She was too afraid to even talk to him. Devin, who was originally Police Man, who now works investigate crime.

I loved this magical, most splendid and most gorgeous story. It was so pleased with these
most beautiful, interesting characters throughout this book. I just adored it so very much!

* I recommend this book to everyone!!

I have to say I love anything C.P. Smith writes and this story is no exception. From the beginning I loved the premise of three modern day wallflowers and of course the alpha males that this author always gives us. I loved Calla and Devin they were both characters you can really like and then the relationship between Calla, Poppy and Sienna was fantastic they were so funny together and the differences in their personalities came together so well. This book isn't just the relationship between Calla and Devin it definitely focuses on Calla's relationship with the world and the others around her. I really enjoyed seeing the wallflowers come together and grow throughout the book. I can't wait for Sienna and Bo's story which I think will be next and then we will finally get Poppy and Nate's story!

This is a story you would expect from C.P. Smith and if you are fan you will love it and if you haven't read a book by this author and you love your romance with some suspense and action then you should definitely pick this book up and give it a go you won't regret it because this story is fantastic.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sometimes reality is better than the books. 21 November 2016
By Stacey is Sassy (Stacey B-Reviews) - Published on Amazon.com

I love it when an author lets us know she’s a reader. I know most authors are readers but it’s cool when an author shares her love of books through her characters. In Wallflowers we get to meet three romance readers…just like me. I had a permanent smile on my face as the three women talked about their favourite historical romances. I’ve had the same types of conversations, sometimes online and sometimes face to face. It doesn’t take long for like-minded readers to form bonds. How could you not like someone who has shed a tear over heartbreak or laughed themselves silly over the stumblings and bumblings of love? When you find those friends you want to keep them. They know and get you in a way non-readers don’t. Wallflowers made me feel at home. I recognised the characters. There were chats about books that were so familiar to the ones I’ve had previously. The one thing these ladies got that I’ve never had…to meet the modern day Devil, Duke of St Ives.

Calla Lily has been living a half-life for 21 years. She’s relatively happy with her job, enjoys spending her spare time reading and loves her two aunts who she lives with. The problem is that Cali is alone. She has shielded herself to keep away emotional attachments. Cali knows what it’s like to love, and have the heartbreak when it is taken away. Her parents died when she was just six years old and she bears the burden of guilt that she caused their death. What better way to avoid hurt than to avoid love completely? Then, one day, she spies a man, looks into his eyes and feels.

Devin Hawthorne (LOVE the name) is an ex-cop looking to settle down in Savannah. He’s opening a PI firm to be closer to his cousin, Megan. Luckily, one of his best mates from College, Nate also happens to work and own a bar in town. Now, Devin’s got a lot on his plate getting things set up for his business but when he sees Calla for the first time, he knows that he’s going to have to find time to pursue, claim and protect this woman.

Wallflowers isn’t just about the relationship that grows between Devil…I mean Devin and Calla. We also get a murder investigation that drags all the Wallflowers, Devin, Nate and his new buddy Bo Strawn, into the intrigue. As the pieces fall into place, and the baddies are revealed, I can honestly say that the last piece of the puzzle took me completely by surprise.

The intimacy between Calla and Devin could be described as a slow burn, but because their attraction sizzles from the very beginning you never feel likes it’s drawn out. Once they do come together it is smoking HOT and exactly the way I like my heroes to take, conquer and possess. A “mine” here, with a “my job to protect you” there gives me all the heart flutters I need.

I really enjoyed Wallflowers. Yes, there were times when Devin’s devotion to Calla seemed a little too insta, but this is what you get when you read a book by C.P. Smith. I’m not complaining, though because I’m all for a little unrealistic insta lust/love that Ms Smith is famous for. If the Devil rides a motorbike instead of a horse, then who’s going to complain about that?

I cannot wait for Poppy and Sienna’s stories…and I think I know who will risk “lyin’, stealin’ and killin’” for them, too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wallflowers take a Stand- great muder mystery wrapped in a hot romance 21 November 2016

What an exciting and emotional romance read. Calla Lily named after a flower, has spent most of her life being raised by her aunts after her parents died. There is a story to her that , I don’t want to give too much away but there is a big back story behind them raising her.
Being a young woman, Calla lived a life hidden in the shadows. She chose to stay back and part of the scenery and not be in front and living life. She is a bookworm and has her dream job working for a publishing company. She is so beautiful yet she doesn’t realize it, she is an “original”. Her aunts are lovable and keep her grounded and loved. And they keep trying to set her up with a man, which is a hoot because Calla doesn’t want a man until she sees who the new tenant is. But she doesn’t think she is worthy for him.
Devin Hawthorne is the new tenant and boy he is hawt. He moves in next door to Calla , he is 6’3” , is a self-employed Private Investigator, has a sexy southern accent, very good manners , loves motorcycles and has a thing for Calla which at first Calla doesn’t realize.
Calla and her friends, Sienna and Poppy, form the Wallflowers (which all started at a company picnic-this is a must read moment in the book). I have to say reading their story in the book is full of humor and hilarity. They are naïve about life and about reality in general but they are darn cute in the scheme of things, that I fell totally in love with them all and got the biggest kick of them whenever they got ideas on how to do things. The gleam in their eyes when a “plan” came up or when they had ideas and were going to do it…yup, things were coming together –OMG…so funny and then when they guys decided to get involved and put a stop to the womens’ plans—You know who Devin is, then we have Nate is his BF from College and owns the bar.And Bo, a local Police Officer working with Devin on the current case. These men are going to get their women and keep them safe.
Calla has stumbled onto the came crime that Devin is trying to solve and that puts her in trouble and on top of that, she is trying to determine what it is she wants in life now that she is determined to NOT stand by and life pass her by, her and her GFs. I loved this story, loved how she took life by the lapels and grasped it and pulled hard and decided to go full throttle. The murder mystery that also is in this story was fantastic –the supporting characters’ in this story made this so much more enjoyable and I cannot wait for the next story in the Wallflowers series.

5.0 out of 5 stars ***** STOP AND ADMIRE THE WALLFLOWERS! ***** 22 November 2016
By Allison Michaels - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
Set against the lush backdrop of historic Savannah, Georgia, this story open with a young woman named Calla Armstrong watching her new neighbor exercise in the courtyard of their apartment complex from a hiding spot in a lilac bush. Weighed down by years of guilt from losing her parents and brother at a young age, she has avoided starting new relationships to protect her already fragile heart. With encouragement from her feisty aunts, she vows to make new friends and open her heart to the possibility of the kind of romantic love she reads about in the books she edits for a living at a local publishing house. It doesn’t take long for her to find two kindred spirits in Poppy and Sienna, a pair of coworkers, at a company picnic. The trio dub themselves “The Wallflowers” and promise to help each other find the happiness they crave and so richly deserve.

Former homicide detective Devin Hawthorne left Atlanta to begin a new career as a PI. When Calla introduces herself to him, their attraction is both instantaneous, unmistakable, and powerful. Misconceptions lead to assumptions that each of them are already spoken for, but a missing persons case involving one of her aunts’ employees brings Calla and Devin together when their paths cross while she and the other Wallflowers conduct their own investigation. A series of clues and evidence put Calla in the hot seat as she becomes a person of interest.

As the case evolves, Devin and Calla quickly learn that deceit runs deep, old wounds don’t always heal, and the past doesn’t always stay left behind. It's up to them and their most-trusted friends to find the truth and prevent any further tragedies from occurring.

This is a powerhouse of a story. CP Smith expertly wove together all of the elements I love into this novel: humor, emotion, heat, wit, and suspense. I lost count of the number of times I burst into laughter due to clever and witty banter between the characters and their hilarious shenanigans. There were several instances when I wanted to reach into my ereader and grab a character by the throat for acting like a jerk. The mystery surrounding the missing persons case kept me guessing right up until it was solved. I literally gasped out loud at that point because each and every one of my suspicions had been wrong. I can usually predict an outcome, but I was duped this time. And I *love* it. To me, this is the true sign of a well-plotted storyline. The steamy scenes were well-placed, tasteful, and hot enough to make me grab a nearby magazine and fan myself.

And the best part of all is that this is the first book in a series! We still have Poppy and Sienna’s stories to look forward to. I’m already eager to see what will happen in each of them, and my fingers are crossed that we get to see what Devin and Calla are up to as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars this was a fun read! 23 November 2016

Goodness, this was a fun read!! SO MANY LOL MOMENTS!! : )

Devin & Calla are definitely perfect for each other. I felt like the chase portion went on a little too long as far as the overall length of the story, but I really enjoyed the interactions w/ all the characters. And seriously, they're hilarious! Even during the high-emotion times & through the mystery, there are some moments where I'm sure if anyone heard me, they wondered just WHAT was so funny!

I'm looking forward to the next Wallflowers story!! : )

5.0 out of 5 stars Another awesome book from this awesome author! 22 November 2016

There's so much about this book that I absolutely loved. The whole time I was reading I kept finding different parts I wanted to notate for my review, and here I am not knowing where to start!

First I have to mention that one of the best aspects of Wallflowers is the fact that I had the awesome opportunity to walk River Street with the author and get a little inside scoop on the books setting. So Calla's home and Devin's office were perfectly pictured in my head as I read along. I think that gave the book a little something extra that I really enjoyed.

For the story itself, I have to say that I freaking loved it and I couldn't put it down. From page one, I was completely devoted to Calla and Devin's story. They were awesome. The whole book was awesome! I loved all the things! I fear I won't be able to do it justice in this review, but I'll try.

What I loved most about Calla was that she was so easy to relate to. I have always been an avid reader and also felt a little like an outsider at times. I've always been kind of shy and find it hard to break out of that shell at times. If only I had my own Devin to move in next door ;)

Devin Hawthorne. Ohhh man, I love him. His alpha ways, his handsome self was just perfect. I loved how he was with Calla.

The plot itself was really interesting and kept me intrigued the whole time. I loved the hilarious antics that the "Wallflowers" got up to. I was laughing throughout all of it! The supporting characters were awesome, and I can't even tell you how excited I am for the next two books!

Another point I wanted to touch on was the books that Calla and her friends mentioned. Devil's Bride to be exact. I had never heard of that book, and I mentioned that to CP Smith and she highly recommended that I give it a try. Just to say, I did and loved it too! And that's saying something since I don't normally like Historical Romance. And, after reading it, I had an even more appreciation for Devin! ;)

I know I didn't recap the book, but I feel like it should be experienced first hand with no spoilers. What you should know, it's a great story with awesome characters, funny dialogue, a hint of seriousness to give it some extra heart, mystery and intrigue, great writing, and just enough steam to give it that extra somethin somethin ;)

Overall, it was another amazing read from an amazing author that I have been fortunate enough to meet in person and call friend. I have loved all of Ms. Smith's books and she definitely didn't disappoint with Wallflowers! I can't wait for the next book!
