Listen, I have read hundreds of mafia books at this point. From general mafia romances, all the way to the darkest pits of hell mafia romances - and having said that...the 1-star reviews in the US site really hit the nail on the head with this book. Here's my 2 cents, anyway.
The beginning of the book was actually great. I got sucked into the story so quickly, I was committed...what the H did, god he ruined her. It was the perfect set up for an incredible story. I was almost howling with anger, I wanted vengeance and I wanted the h to get her vengeance. Even the first time they -do- it, it stoked my rage even higher...YESSSS I was getting so hyped. I wanted to see him BURN and I was freaking excited to see how the author would handle him trying to crawl out of the ashes. Turns out, all the h needed was the second time they had s*x and for him to give her org*asms. Looking back on it, it was the beginning of the end, for me. The h began softening after a MONTH, ****LARGE SPOILER HERE**** despite her new husband slaughtering her little brother, her father and her soulmate/fiance ON their wedding day. ANY h who is easily wooed by a man's eggplant and a few O's after said man decimated her family...nope. Pass. Not interested. I was so unbelievably frustrated by 51% that not only was I desperately holding out hope that the author was going to surprise us and uncover that the h had been laying in wait and just luring the reader into a false sense of security but I had also simultaneously started to not give a sh*t about the characters or the story. As soon as the H told her he wanted to name their child after her father, y'know...the one he slaughtered in cold blood and SHE DIDNT EVEN BLINK AN EYE AT THE AUDACITY, I was DONE. She doesn't even mourn her father or little brother through the book, like come on.

Waiting for My Queen is Georgia Cate's newest release and it is amazing!!
Right from the start you are sucked into the mafia world and it will keep you on the edge of your seat all the way through this book.
Emilia has been promised to be Luca's wife since they were kids. Even though they barely knew one another growing up, Emilia is meant to be Luca's wife once she turns 21.
When Emilia falls in love with one of her father's soldiers and pleads with her father to get her out of her betrothment to Luca he listens and meets with Luca's family. The events that follow bring this book to the next level.
I loved the plot twists and the development between the characters. Emilia is an incredible character and even though I hated Luca in the beginning he redeems himself throughout the story.
I highly recommend this book and can't wait to see what comes next from Georgia!

Waiting for my Queen by Georgia Cates is a standalone dark and twisty mafia romance about two people, promised to each other since they were babes and all the drama that ensues when one tries to break the agreement. The darkness that resides within Luca versus the light that Emelia brings to his life. It is quite possible that this book might trigger some people but i found it to be a little dark and that Luca needed to do much to redeem himself but overall I was very happy with this story. From the terrible wedding scene, to the calm stubborness of Emilia, to the gradual change that takes over luca. Loved it! Enjoy!

Waiting for my Queen by Georgia Cates is a fast-paced Mafia read which focuses on the characters Emilia Bellini and Luca Rossini. Since birth, Emilia has been sworn to become married to Luca only it isn’t Luca that she loves. Instead she is ready to marry someone lower down in the Mafia so that he can run away. When she is granted permission from her father, she thinks nothing else will happen, but when it comes to her wedding day, things don’t go as planned and Luca wrecks devastation across Emilia’s family as well as taking Emilia for his wife. Here is how the story begins.
The story develops with Emilia’s need for revenge and Luca being purely selfish, chauvinistic and overbearing for most of the story. He makes a lot of mistakes under the guise of thinking that it doesn’t matter that he has a wife. Emilia for her part is such a strong character who we see develop over the story. But you are left wondering how she can come to love Luca after everything he has done! Saying that, Luca is redeemable and you do get to see how he has changed from the beginning of the story which was good to see. There is also different POV’s which gives you an idea of what the characters are thinking and why they do the things they have done.
The story is also set in the 70’s which didn’t really make a difference when reading it, but there were some fun references to music at the time. Other characters in the book are interesting to say the least and all seem to have their own little side stories so we get to know them better.
Overall, Georgia Cates writes good Mafia books which are a little dark, a lot steamy and have redeemable characters. A good read!
ARC received for a fair, honest and sometimes long review 😊

Was totally caught up in this well written story!

This is the first book by Georgia Cates that I've read, and I have to say I loved it.
I was a bit surprised at the start of the book, and then shocked at the actions of Luca. He was an absolute horror! I felt so sorry for Emilia and her family.
The wedding and wedding night left me cringing.
But gradually things start to change. Emilia's mother, well, she's a pain in the butt!
And then Luca started to change, in my eyes anyway, and he started to very slowly redeem himself. And even his family improved. Then I found myself actually liking Luca and reading with a smile on my face!
And yes, I was totally caught up in this well written story!

I did like this book even though its not my usual type of romance. Luca is a big bully ,controlling and i really struggled to see how Emilia could forgive him and love him. I didnt really relate at all to the mafia family reasoning and acceptance of all things criminal especially killing with no reasoning in my mind. Well written exactly what i would expect from georgia cates.

I have read over a 100 mafia romances while laid up in bed, only 1 review written, but this book! Yuck!!!!!
I mean really? He kills the love of my life? His father,my father and brother? Yet instead of getting revenge, getting pregnant taking back my inheritance, running making him suffer? I just love him to pieces and let that family have my sister? The worst mafia romance ever, I want a refund

THIS REVIEW WILL HAVE SPOILERS!!!!
In the first part of the story, Luca is a cold-blooded killer with no thoughts of remorse. Pretty irredeemable for someone when they kill all the male relatives in your family as well as your "beloved" fiancé... PLUS it's annoying when it could have been avoided. If you AGREE to give up Emilia, when you were given the choice to proceed and just force the issue, why go thru all the effort just force the issue later?
Then part two, suddenly Luca is sweet and the love of her life. Oh, and he's sorry he killed her younger brother. I completely agree with Emilia's mother - it was BS that she lost her family because Emilia was too immature. And then it's a huge betrayal that she joins forces with the people who KILLED HER FAMILY. And it wasn't like it was self-defense. It was a slaughtering.
I'm find with dark mafia and redemption stories but it's hard to tolerate when Emilia so quickly gets over the betrayal and killings of her father, brother, fiancé, etc. It was only months!
If the story had been that Luca accidentally killed them or someone else did, ok. But the fact that it was HIS plan and he executed it just didn't work for me.

I have always loved Georgia Cates books. I also love dark romance. But this one just made me so angry. The main character actually killed her father and younger brother. I spent about 75% of this book being so angry that he killed her family and she was just ok with it. I could have dealt with him killing her fiancée, but her family too? She doesn’t even take time to grieve her family and the love of her life before she begins to fall in love with him. A MONTH LATER!! Seriously?!?! A month passes and she just gives up on her anger and revenge plot bc he gives her orgasms?!?!? This just doesn’t even make sense. He is so sweet throughout this whole book if you discount the fact that he murdered her family in cold blood!! Can a cold blooded murderer really be that sweet and love someone that much? It was just so far fetched. I am super disappointed with this book.
