Product Description

Everything happens for a reason. I just wish I knew the why behind mine.

Five years ago, graduation wasn’t what it was supposed to be. Publicly humiliated, Melanie was more than happy to kiss off her high school sweetheart. But in doing so, she lost more than just her boyfriend, she lost the only other guy she truly cared for – his best friend, Shane.

Shane loathed the idea of returning to his small hometown. He just wanted to get in, help his best friend manage a legal matter, and get the hell back out again. But he wasn’t expecting to run into the one girl who got away, who always held a piece of his heart despite the animosity that lingered. Melanie could’ve been the one, but after everything that happened, trust was a serious issue.

She just wanted to do right by her son. He just wanted to do right by his best friend. And just when they thought they could find the strength to forgive the sins of the past, more secrets and lies bubble to the surface, threatening to push them irrevocably apart.

There was something about this story that just didn't work.
I am not sure if I would read this author's other work.
At one stage in this book a whole paragraph was repeated so it needs some editing work done.
Premise of the story was good.

This book was pretty good, good storyline, great characters but I absolutely hated the ending. I felt as though I was left hanging, like what happens with Shane and Mel? So that's why I could only give it three stars.

2.0 out of 5 stars Meh! - Possible spoiler alert 25 November 2015

This book didn't really sit comfortably with me. I felt Shane was more in love with Brad then Mel. The HEA felt forced & under developed. There was no talk or plans for the future, considering they would be living in different cities & Shane no longer has a car. There was no anger or resentment held against Brad for his actions or stupidity. If a knife was held at my childs throat, there would be no way on earth I would be grieving at the attackerd funeral days later. From start to finish this novel did not sit well & I regret not returning it for a refund.

I enjoyed this book however I was left with questions. I don't like that!
The story starts out with a guy being asked to help his buddy out since he is going to law school in the fall. His buddy's grandmother passed away a while ago and he's wondering why he didn't his inheritance as he thought he should. This brings him back to the small town he went to high school in and meeting "the" girl he loved but couldn't have.
The story revolves around this girl and the buddy's family. He assumes too much and trusts this buddy without finding out all the facts and trouble begins.
So the story line is good and keeps your attention but the ending leaves me with so many questions. Like did the guy go to law school in the fall? There are others but I won't give away the ending.
It's worth the read.

This was a really good story. I adored the heroine; she was amazing. The hero, on the other hand, was a butt! He alone dropped my rating 1/2 a star. I loved the writing style. This author has a way of describing the setting that made me feel like I was there.

I really liked parts of this book but I didn't care for the ending. I felt like so much was left untold...
