5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific insights from a successful entrepreneur and coach 21 March 2015
By Chris Edmonds - Published on
The life of an entrepreneur is like sailing a new boat against a strong wind! There are so many things to keep track of, to manage, to learn, and to juggle, all while trying to keep the enterprise moving forward. You don’t have to be an avid sailor to appreciate David Greer’s book, Wind In Your Sails. David lays out ten strategies that will help entrepreneurs succeed, and offers practical examples and recommendations from his own experiences as a successful corporate leader and a successful entrepreneur, relevant case studies, and, of course, sailing a 43-foot boat on the Mediterranean Sea with his wife and three young children. From clear agreements to strategic planning to people management to culture to branding and beyond, Wind In Your Sails will be a guidebook you’ll refer to often as your business grows, your customer needs evolve, and your staff team adapts to new opportunities.
5.0 out of 5 stars Broad perspective gives entrepreneurs a leg up 21 March 2015
By Amazon Customer - Published on
Many business books, especially targeting entrepreneurs, suffer from myopia. The reader gets one person's perspective.

Greer is much smarter than that. He combed through examples from successful entrepreneurs, strategy consultants and case studies to fully flush-out what it takes to make a business thrive.

This important aspect cannot be expressed loudly enough. Every business is different, and in Greer's high tech industry, sometimes the set of unknown market variables is larger than what is known. A broad perspective, from many examples and experts, gives a healthy menu for an entrepreneur to sample from. This improves insight, perspective and the probability of success.

I don't know if Wind In Your Sails will become mandatory reading among entrepreneurs, but as a Silicon Valley businessman with connections in the venture capital community, I plan on recommending it.
5.0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive strategy guide for entrepreneurs 21 March 2015
By K. S. - Published on
Wind in Your Sails offers entrepreneurs a comprehensive yet easy and quick to consume guide for building a sustainable high growth business. I wish I had this guide when I was starting out my first venture. Tech startups are often founded by engineers for whom concepts like "marketing" and "team leadership" are things to push off to someone wearing the "business" hat. Yet, more often than not, it's the engineer founder who has to figure these things out - and there is no way to avoid these concepts long term.

Wind in Your Sails neatly treats the full spectrum of business concepts you'll need in order to succeed - from managing money to generating sales to making people happy and productive. For the price and small time investment, this handbook is a no brainer.
5.0 out of 5 stars Loved the perspective and approach 22 March 2015
By Murray - Published on
The perspective and approach of "Wind in your Sails" appeals to me.

Greer comes from a technology background and the lessons in the writings are specifically applicable in this genre. Not that they aren't broadly applicable, but in reading the book it immediately spoke to me more than others have because David has truly walked many miles in the same shoes.

In terms of approach, I found myself being quickly drawn to the case studies. It has always been both fascinating and useful to me as a business founder to hear the stories of other success and failures. In Wind in your Sails, the case studies reinforce David's writings and provide a grounded and real perspective to what can be achieved, and how.

Nice work!
4.0 out of 5 stars A Tactical Approach to Growing Your Business 21 March 2015
By Bob Garlick - Published on
This book has a lot to offer but I think the biggest thing I got out of it was a new sense of direction for my business. It is unlike many of the business books out there because it's teachings are readily available to action. It is way more tactical than most books so I find I am referencing it when I need to get moving. I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to talk with David about his book and if you would like to hear he had to say you can listen to the interview here.
