Product Description

Captain Lana Fiveworlds has a hell of a lot of problems.

She's sliding void in an ageing seven-hundred-year-old space ship, scrabbling around the edges of civilised space trying to find a cargo lucrative enough to pay her bills without proving so risky that it'll kill her. She's got an alien religious freak for a navigator, an untrustworthy android for a first mate, a disgraced lizard for a trade negotiator and a deserter from the fleet acting as her chief engineer.

And that was well before an ex-crewman turns up wanting Lana to rescue a barbarian prince from a long-failed colony world.

Unfortunately for Lana, the problems she doesn't know about are even more dangerous. In fact, they just might be enough to destroy Lana's rickety but much-loved vessel, the Gravity Rose, and jettison her and her crew into the void without a spacesuit.

But there's one thing you can never tell an independent space trader. That's the odds...

Stephen Hunt is the creator of the much-loved 'Far-called' fantasy series (Gollancz/Hachette), as well as the 'Jackelian' series, published across the world via HarperCollins alongside their other fantasy authors, George R.R. Martin, J.R.R. Tolkien, Raymond E. Feist and C.S. Lewis.

Praise for Stephen Hunt's novels:

‘Mr. Hunt takes off at racing speed.’

‘Hunt's imagination is probably visible from space. He scatters concepts that other writers would mine for a trilogy like chocolate-bar wrappers.’

‘All manner of bizarre and fantastical extravagance.’

‘Compulsive reading for all ages.’

‘Studded with invention.’

‘To say this book is action packed is almost an understatement… a wonderful escapist yarn!’

‘Hunt has packed the story full of intriguing gimmicks… affecting and original.’

‘A rip-roaring Indiana Jones-style adventure.’

‘A curious part-future blend.’

‘An inventive, ambitious work, full of wonders and marvels.’

‘Hunt knows what his audience like and gives it to them with a sardonic wit and carefully developed tension.’

‘A ripping yarn … the story pounds along… constant inventiveness keeps the reader hooked… the finale is a cracking succession of cliffhangers and surprise comebacks. Great fun.’

‘Put on your seatbelts for a frenetic cat and mouse encounter... an exciting tale.’

5.0 out of 5 stars Exciting read!! 17 December 2014

This was such an exciting and adventure filled book! Stephen Hunt has hit the ball out of the park with this one. I am a huge fan of science fiction stories so I am very critical and expect a lot from my authors. This one definitely does not disappoint. The characters and the storyline are so well developed that I challenge anyone to find a better volume of sci-fi stories anywhere. I could easily see this book made into a major motion picture or a reoccurring television series. I would say that it is just as good as some of the bigger more popular sci-fi adventures like Star Wars. I do not like to talk about plots or specifics, as I would never want to ruin a good read such as this for another reader. But, take it from me you will absolutely love this book! 5 big stars!

4.0 out of 5 stars Sliding void sounds much cooler than flying through space. 7 January 2015

Void All the Way Down is a collection of three stories about the captain of a creaking spaceship and her small, but motley, crew on a past its prime ship. While they aren’t pirates, they’re clients certainly aren’t to be trusted. Captain Lana Fiveworld’s past is shrouded in mystery and she’s desperate to make it to her future. I liked how the author mixed in familiar company names and even some jargon to make the fictional universe he created easier for the reader to believe. I like how these stories ended, but I can’t wait to read the next adventure.
5.0 out of 5 stars A fun read as good and varied as a 6 course meal , a space trader interdicts fun adventure & unusual cargo. 4 November 2015

A delightful space opera that doesn't sit heavy. A fun rambunctious vein connects the characters of the tramp craft known as 🌹 as her captains varied troopers consisting of a crustacean, largish lizard, etc trading thru spacelanes for viable cargo. Don't forget a fallable magician helping out.

Okay, first of all this is a space opera, not great literature. It is intended to be a fast, entertaining, page turner. It succeeds but it is then to be forgotten. Don't expect any profound personal growth from reading this but do expect entertaining SF. The writing is a bit uneven and it certainly could use another round of editing. But the pace was fast and I always wanted to know what was going to happen next. So, worth the price.
