I am still stunned that this is Tate James' debut novel. From the moment I started reading, I was hooked. Kit is such a strong and complex MC and was developed so well. Her kick-ass attitude and fiery best friend Lucy made me laugh time and time again. Add in her mysterious 'talents' and you have a master thief playing modern day Robin Hood. Its hard to comment on other aspects of the novels without revealing too may spoilers given the storyline is so complex with twists and reveals throughout!
The guys that I'm hoping all form her RH are all great characters in themselves - they don't just support Kit, they stand on their own. Wesley is the only one I'm not sure about for Kit (in a romantic sense - they already have a good friendship blossoming), mainly because of his connection with Lucy as well, but time will tell. He may come out of his shell and surprise us all. The twists and turns that kept on coming kept the book alive and me on the edge of my seat. I had to keep reading to see what would happen next, which is always the sign of a great book. I was completely sucked in and NEEDED to know what was happening.
The author provided warnings about potential triggers, so make sure those are heeded. As Kit's history was revealed I was suitably horrified at what she had been through. It was very well written - it was dark and horrifying, yet spoke of Kit's loyalty and strength as well. It suited the person she was now, slightly broken and jaded, without her being a complete mess, or conversely completely recovered with no scars. The fact that she had triggers herself throughout the book just added to the complex layering of her character development - it wasn't a trigger that just occurred at a certain stage of the book - it was interwoven throughout.
The ending brought surprises that I did not see coming, but they were so well delivered - completely in line with the Kit we'd gotten to know, which was fantastic (love the sass and the guys reactions when all was revealed). I particularly loved how her adoptive father came into it, and it made a lot of other references through the book make sense. The reveals from the last few chapters are what is driving me to go back and re-read - I recall the hints that came up throughout the book when all fell into place, but want to go and read it knowing what happens now to see how many other hints I missed.
Highly recommend this book and can't wait for Tate James' next book to come out. Whether in this series, or another, I will be reading it!

Well written, The Vixens Lead dives headfirst into the life of Kit Davenport; foster child, private school girl, thief and superhuman. Kit, with the help of daddy’s money and her pseudo sister/best friend, puts her extra human abilities to good use breaking and entering and stealing from a very specific target. Their goal, vengeance.
But a life of crime is bound to catch up to you and that is exactly what happens to Kit. But thankfully the bad guys are the good guys and they are hot guys who are not afraid of sharing.
This is a RH novel that may be based in (or near) a private school but, well, most of the guys are older than teens and Kit is quite mature. This results in a Paranormal Fantasy RH that is more adult than many from the same genre. With a trigger warning on this one, you know you are in for some heavy stuff but it is delivered well and isn’t too in your face.
Tate James is great at creating relationships between characters and world building. A Vixens Lead was an enjoyable and fun read.

So i have been seeing teasers for this book for what seems like forever, and i have been dying for its release for what seems like forever. After finishing A Vixen's Lead, all i can say is; I.NEED.MORE.NOW!!!!!
The Vixens lead follows Kit, a 19 year old student with more than a few skills in the thieving trade. Kit soon learns that not every job is finished at the scene, what should have been a simple in and out, brings a lot more consequences to her door. In particular, consequences in the shape of 5 very equally, very different men. The plot had action, suspense, drama, heartbreak and laughter. It made me read well into the night and i was not able to stop! Not to mention that it was on my mind all of the following day, no matter how much i had to focus.
I loved Kit, honestly, she was spunky, funny, to the point and just a genuinely lovely human being. I loved that when she was vulnerable she didnt try to hide it, when she needed something she went and got it. She took responsibility for all her actions and didnt apologise for them (you know, unless she actually needed to apologise). Her past absolutely destroyed me. I cant believe that the things that she went through, but for her to come out the other side of it like she did, lets just say i was cheering her on in a big way.
Liz, the blue haired, genius, well i loved her. I loved how she was more to the plot than the best friend. She had her own role, and it was a very important one at that.
Then we have the men, holy moly these men were amazing!!!
Caleb (Twin 1) who was the charmer and light hearted of the group, Austin (twin 2) the grumpy mean one of the group, River the Alpha of the group, Cole the muscle protective man and Wesley the shy geeky one. What i loved most about each of these men, is that even when the setting romantic, the things they said still made me feel all tingly inside. I loved every single one of them. As a side note i am totally #teamAustin and #teamCole, got to love a bad boy.
I loved the intrigue around Kit's heritage and the surprise of her adoptive parent. Everything about this book surprised me and i loved every single second of it.
Tate, I need the second one now please! December feels too far away!

...the ability to give the reader what they want, and need.
It’s not often that I stop reading a book (keep reading, please) and feel the need to leave a review... before I’ve even finished reading the book, but I just had too.
My heart has just been removed, broken into a million pieces and put back together again.
I hope one day to be able to emulate the ability that this author has.
Thank you so much, for reading what was in my heart and soul, and giving me the panacea to fix it.
I am, once again, a whole person. *muah*

Bass Ackwards Review
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 5 November 2017Verified Purchase
I did this all bass ackwards. I reviewed the second book before the first because I'm weird like that (translate I'm a total derp and didn't think first). Here goes anyway.
Loved it. Simple. Absolutely loved every single minute of it. Even Austin being a frosty.
So, Kit is seriously badass. No matter how many assortment of nicknames she is given (Kitty Kat, Kitten, Vixen, Princess, Christina), badass should top that list. She's incredible. I want to be her when I grow up (although, technically, I'm older than her but we'll ignore that tidbit). There are so many levels so her. She's vulnerable on very rare occasion, but hates pity. She's loving and caring. She's funny, sassy and is equipped with some serious banter. She has to be one of my very favourite heroines, for sure.
And now onto the fellas. Where would I even begin?! Oh hot damn, for one. I want to be Kit, the lucky gal. I don't even know what to say about them. They're just as incredible as Kit. They're all total sweethearts, aren't afraid to love and care and to show it. Are intense but in a sexy way, not the kind of way that your in an interview and the interviewer is intense to try and psych you out. So yeah, can I steal them? Please?
The story line has me hooked, line and sinker. I'm loving it! Seriously gripped. I need to know more about Kits parents and the experiments. I just need more!
All in all, bloody fantastic read. Didn't want to put it down! To say I was gutted when I finished it and had to wait for the next book would be putting it mildly.
So, yeah. Would highly recommend! One of my top 5 favourite series. Cant wait for the rest!

Hilarious and so brilliant 😂 love all the sass and banter made me laugh out loud and like a crae person more than I think people were comfortable with ... Anyways yassssss will defo purchase next book, obvs how could I resist such temptation with all those bloody hotties !!!! <3 Loved the heroine Kit, she's such a badass and just love with all the stuff she comes out with, so easy to relate to her (well except when shows us her super moves etc 😂). All that being said was a great read love how not everyone was a fan of hers straight away like in most books and jsut automatically love her but as she grows on everyone so do all the other characters and love the depth behind some of them can't wait to learn more about them all in the next book ! Thoroughly enjoyed this book and couldn't stop reading the rest.

My four rating is based on the series as a whole.
I read these books a while ago and didn't leave a review, so this is a very general review of the while series.
I enjoyed these books and found them easy to ready, a lot of the books I couldn't put down and had to keep reading!
The characters are great and I love the intricacies of some of the relationships. I massively enjoyed the mystery of the storyline.
Each book brings something more and moves the story on in ways you don't always expect.
I would definitely recommend that you read these books

Absolutely Brilliant.... And I don't say that about much 😂. Kit, our leading lady, is so brave and fantastic that even though she can't possibly be real (considering how bad ass and hilarious she is) I want to be her best friend! And not just so she can intoduce me to her guys *fans self*. I'll take River and Austin off her hands no problem 😉. This book has everything I love! Fantasy, Romance, Gorgeous Guys, Kick Ass Heroines, Gorgeous Guys, Girl Power, Action. Did I mention the guys yet?

Starting this book I was expecting a steamy romance with supernatural action/adventure on the side, but it turned out to be so much more than that!!
The romance is there but it builds a lot more realistically than other books of similar genres. The story of the characters and their adventures takes priority and the romance feels so much more natural, without losing any of the sexiness.
I can't wait to read book 2 and see what happens next!
