Visually appealing presentation. Very useful practical activities included in the book. This text is highly relevant for counselling practice that includes the expressive therapies.

Okay Just Finished My First Week of Visual Journaling, and Already Find It Surprisingly Addictive!
Reviewed in the United States on 19 December 2018Verified Purchase
So I heard that Visual Journaling was great for dealing with emotions like stubborn grief in your heart. However I didn't have a lot of hopes for it because I'm not especially good at drawing. But I decided to give it a shot.
And I was pleasantly surprised. Not only about how easy it is, but how revealing your drawings are about what's going on inside your subconscious--especially in contrast to what you either say to others OR think that you think. I recommend it especially to people who have a hard time expressing themselves. For myself--It's only been one week so far (it's set up for a six week course) but I find my own body/mind already looks forward to doing it every other day or so.

Great content with few color images
Reviewed in the United States on 5 February 2021Verified Purchase
Immediately looking at this book, I was disappointed by the lack of pictures in color. Most of them are in black and white. Because of this, at first glance it can be easy to miss the true depth of this book. I like the layout, and the steps are set up like shamanic journeying, only the pen, paint or pencil is the guide and the drumming is missing. Set an intention, get centered, and engage in guided visualization, then put the images on paper. The whole process is an experience, not just drawing or painting. It also has many exercises and self exploration that I'm sure will be beneficial. I think if this guide is explored further it has the potential to help me get a lot of my internal world on paper.
