Good: Can access my NAS and all 726 CDs in my music library, not just the 30 or so that Amazon Music knows about.
Not so good: My daughter, principal user of the FireTV during the day, complains that it has no "play all" and no random-shuffle function.
So, mixed benefits. It doesn't really do what I wanted because while it lacks Amazon Music's limitation of playing only music Amazon knows I have, it has its own limitations that make it not really useful for the purpose I wanted it for.
Short version: If you want a FireTV media player that can access your local media, Vimu works. But honestly, VLC for FireTV works better.
- - Faster and more stable audio and subtitle switching (Vimu engine).
- - Setup of info panel hide timeout in settings.
- - Fixes situation when info panel is not hidden on media startup.
- - Fix playback of playlists from another application.
