This is a poor excuse for a historical reference. The author seems to push her viewpoint onto the reader and pairs a picture of a stereotypical viking as a savage heathen. The information in this book is picked out as if to push the idea that vikings were a violent feral race of people before Christianity came along. Some of the historical reference made are completely wrong or scewed. The bibliography, at least in my copy, is mislabeled and makes fact checking difficult. Some translations used seem to be either poorly done or taken out of context from other work I've read. The author even contradicts herself in various parts of the book.
If you are looking for a book on viking and/or Norse life and culture I urge you to look elsewhere. Unless you are already familiar with viking history this book offers nothing but twisted facts and a one-sided, poorly reaserched and ilinformed version of Scandinavia history that should be avoided all together.
