I can't say enough good things about these shoes. I didn't experience the problems others have reported during breakin period. I put them on the day I left for summer vacation, and I've never gone back to traditional shoes since. They are holding up well after about 8 months or so of daily use (see pic attached)
I used to work standing up on concrete floors for many years. As a result my feet are often sore and achy at the end of the day. Since I have switched to these shoes I no longer have sore feet. I have noticed a major increase in the articulation of my feet. My toes seem to be stretching a bit and my feet are relaxing. I could go on at length, but you get the idea. These shoes are very comfortable.
These shoes are fantastic for hiking! The grip is excellent, especially on sandstone and the like. Much more secure footing than my normal hiking boots.
A couple pointers I can give to help others out:
1. Smell: since you aren't wearing socks with these, they do have a tendency to build up foot odor, even if you don't normally have a problem with that. I have tried all kinds of remedies, and finally found 2 that work.
What doesn't work: Soap and water, Vinegar, 409, Salt water
What does work: OxiClean or similar product, and Hydrogen Peroxide
2. Washing: These are fabric shoes, so they tend to get dirty and smelly. Once a week soak them in OxiClean and water for 15 minutes, then rinse and hang dry. During the summer they will dry in the sun in about an hour. During the winter I use a boot warmer to dry them
3. Socks: You can wear 5 toe socks with these, but be warned that even the really thin ones cause your toes to feel like they are being pushed apart. They take some getting used to.
