“The Vanished Lady” by Vicki Britton and Loretta Jackson delivers. Building on strong plot and interesting characters rather than resorting to profanity and risky lifestyles as fillers, this mystery-romance-suspense is enthralling from beginning to end.
Anyone other than Dana Lawrence would give up on restoring the Vanished Lady Inn. Some claim the inn with its tragic history is haunted.
Glenndale, Colorado matriarch Lelia Glenn simply vanished in the late 1800s. Some claim she ran away with a lover. Some claim her husband killed her and hid her body in the mine. More recently, a young woman also vanished.
A huge collection of priceless jewels disappeared on the same day that Amy vanished. Some accuse Amy of the robbery. Some claim she ran away with her lover – who is also missing.
Ghosts aside, very real human predators lurk in the shadows of Vanished Lady Inn digging surreptitiously at night. Dana’s life is threatened if she stays. Exerting a huge toil on both her finances and her vigor, the restoration work she completes is twice destroyed. Notes are left warning her to leave or die.
Even worse, she can trust no one; not the sheriff who seems to blame her for each new threat she receives; not ex-felon Jed Hoyt who stalks her and demands the return of the stolen jewels; not the two eligible, attractive bachelors who offer friendship by day…and perhaps physical harm under the cover of darkness?
Since she can trust no one, Dana searches for the stolen jewels on her own. What she finds is a skeleton and more danger than she ever believed possible.

EnjoyableReviewed in the United Kingdom on 7 August 2020
I did enjoy this story good plot and interesting characters. It is not too heav a story and would recommend, however needs more proof reading as so many errors which seemed to gather pace as the story progressed even quoting a wrong name which became irritating but an ejoyable story nevertheless.
A fantastic readReviewed in the United Kingdom on 29 March 2013
I chose this book when it was on special offer, however from the first page I was hooked - all of the characters (singly or in groups or pairs) seem as though they could be responsible. I will not spoil the ending - but I am definitely going to buy more from these.

DisappointedReviewed in Canada on 11 May 2013
The reviews for this book lead me to believe it would be quite wonderful. I didn't find it to be so. I have a need to finish a book when I start it but I had a hard time finishing this one.
Two sisters make a great writing team and always an amazing read!Reviewed in the United States on 10 September 2016
It seems to me when the two sisters who wrote this book and so many others get together, something magical happens and a great story is born. In this tale they take a part of the past and bring it into a present mystery. When Dan Lawrence buys a beautiful old house it comes with a dark legacy. In the 1800's Leila Glenn vanished from the house and just two years ago Amy Walden also vanished, are the two disappearances related and what will that mean to Dana? Grab this book and find out. Readers are going to love the twists, turns and suspense as they try to solve the mystery before they get to the end of this intriguing story.
