5.0 out of 5 stars A deadly and dashing vampire 19 December 2014

The story opens in a tomb. All is calm. All is bright. The little Christmas tree in the corner casts a dazzling display reflecting off of the large coffin.

If you put your ear right up against the coffin, you might hear Jimmy Buffet singing Margaritaville. This handsome vampire loves being a vampire, loves Christmas, and is a fan of the southern artist and has been to many of his concerts. His powers enable him to fly to any location and blend into the shadows to enjoy the the shows.

He’s been waiting 364 days for this night and he grabs his bag of goodies and heads out. But first he must feed.

When he was a new vampire he killed at random. But after many years and witnessing the miracle of Christmas, the warmth and cheer of it, he became more selective. Only killing those who deserved it.

I am amazed at the power of this character with the story being just over 20 pages.

He coldly stalks and consumes his prey, yet he’s also gleeful and excited, like a child. He really gets into the Christmas spirit and spreads hope and joy. Not to his prey, of course, but to those who are in need.

I live in the south and have seen Jimmy Buffet in concert. Been to his restaurant. Met him a few times. While I was reading this story, I hummed Margaritaville and thought, this vampire would like it here.

I received this book for my honest review.
5.0 out of 5 stars Ever meet a Parrothead vampire? 12 August 2015

Anthony Renfro's short story, A Vampire at Christmas has been rewritten and given a new cover. I am excited to see what he has done with Talan, a hot and sexy vampire.

Talan had been coming home from seeing his fiance, when robbers attacked him and left him for dead. In turn, a vampire took out the robbers and left him with an alternative, immortality or death. He passed out before making the choice, so the vampire made it for him. His blood tasted sweet, while the robbers had tasted salty. MMMM

Ever meet a Parrothead vampire? How about a vampire who’s favorite time of year is Christmas? Do they decorate trees with lots of blinking, sparkling lights? He hung pictures of sunrises around the crypt to remind himself that he was once human. He wears work boots and a Jimmy Buffet concert shirt. He would have played music if he felt no one would hear. His favorite song is Margaritaville.

Discovering Christmas had changed his feeding pattern. Now he chose mostly those who deserved it. And had something special for those he felt worthy.

How would you like to see Talan coming down your chimney?

I love Talan and the humorous/horror writing of Anthony Renfro.

Here are two very short stories. The main story was much shorter than I expected. Only one third, while the "bonus short story" was two thirds of this edition.
A Vampire at Christmas is about a man who turns a vampire after being bitten by a vampire in a forest at winter after leaving his fiancée's house. And as a vampire he tries to keep his human self still alive by trying to feed on bad people as much as it is possible. Every Christmas he distributes some gifts in the form of money mostly to charities or people in need. That was about it, I guess.
Bonus Short Story: Need to Feed is about a town fighting vampires and werewolves at the same time every year. This year was more successful than the previous ones in a way, because they managed to save the other towns on their predators' way.
I liked how good wins in these stories, but not completely.
Short and enjoyable. Would recommend.

I loved this story about Talan Gawayn, a vampire who loves Christmas. After rampaging through the years begins to only feed on those who have done evil and to leave gifts at Christmas for those in need.
