As war looms once again, the original Night Class alumni each decide whether or not they will take up their skills again to protect innocent humans. Zero unexpectedly bonds with Seiren over their common link through Zero's presumably long gone mentor Yagari, as he guides his daughter Ren through her tortured feelings regarding the climax of the last volume.
However, the emotional highlight is a moment fans of the original series have probably been waiting for, as Kaname at last finally reunites with Ichijo - the best friend who had devotedly guarded his body during it's long sleep and was heavily implied to have been as much in love with him as Yuki - although Ichijo isn't quite ready to reveal his connection to Kaname yet. It begs the question: with Yuki and Zero now gone, is it possible that it's his turn for some time with Kaname, should Kaname join Aido in turning out to be bi?
Memories continues to justify it's existence and sometimes turn out to be almost as much a page turner as the original series.
