Truly a delightful read. Many of the poems seem written from different personae & perspectives. From whimsical and playful, enlightened & spiritual, mean streets to teenage angst. It all comes together in a harmonious chord of love and hopefulness. A few of my personal favorites are:
The Wonders of the Earth
True Desires
The Midnight Tree
From Witch to Rose
Secret to Secret.
I recommend reading this beautiful and powerful collection of poems.

Almney King is truly a force to be reckoned with! Her writing has a depth that took me by surprise. She is 16 years old but writes with a life-knowledge way beyond her years. Her poetry is heartfelt & true to life. Almney is fearless & gutsy & hits the bullseye with each poem. I found myself asking, "how does she know all this?". I look forward to more from her. A fan is born! I can't imagine what her future work will be like if "The Valley of Anchor" is how she starts. All I can say is WOW! Do I recommend it? You bet I do! What a gifted wordsmith!
5.0 out of 5 stars The Valley of Anchor A Must Read 27 June 2012

This book is very inspirational, easy to read. It touches your heart as she takes you on a journey through her poems. I cannot believe she is only 16years old. She has much wisdom for such a young poet. I will share this book with my daughter who is 22yrs old. I already bought a copy for my mother as well. She reaches a span of all ages. I am very glad that I purchased this book. It is perfect to give as a gift as well to share with others, and I like the price too.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Bright Light! 29 June 2012
By Eclectic Reader - Published on
This fine book of poetry is rich in imagery and imagination. Through it Ms. King expresses a spiritual depth and a broad facility with language that far exceeds her 16 years. There is a daringness about the book, in that she is definitely tackling the big questions, and at its best the writing is elegant, and feels effortlessly executed.

In a very few instances some of the rhythms feel a bit too simply rendered, and the religious perspective preachy. But this is positively offset by the book's over-all energy, which is generous, fluid, and nicely complex, all of which makes me guess that this is the truest expression of this young author's spirit.

I will definitely make a point of following the writing career of this bright light.
5.0 out of 5 stars Don't underestimate the power a youthful voice can carry 27 June 2012

I am no conassuier of poetry mind you, so when I started reading, I honestly did not know what to expect. I can now say, I am building a palate for poetry because of this teenager who can not only write, but can move you with emotion, and make you examine your life and cause you to want to make a change. I see a lot of myself reflected in these words, and I also believe there is hope as the author so echoes throughout her poetry. Way to go! I pray the world will take notice of this exuberant young poet, and I also hope those non-poetry fans will give this a chance, you will not be disappointed! Furthermore, at times I was so overcome by emotion I had to compose myself.. BRAVO! I believe she is blessed.
