I just love when everyone finds the H to be terrifying/dangerous and along comes a tiny female that can "tame" the beast!!! Tammy could certainly hold her own against the big lion-man that kept saying "MINE" whenever he saw Tammy.
It was great to see Valiant accept all the ribbing/sass he received from everyone after claiming Tammy, a tiny human who he had previously stated he would never want, it make for some funny banter.
Of course their courtship had its share of ups and down with Tammy being kidnapped by the hate groups and taken away, more then once. I thought Tammy was an awesome character, surviving what she did and how she handled herself, usually the h's have TSTL moments but thankfully Tammy didn't, yay!!!
Loved that we again saw all the previously mentioned characters and we even got to be there for the first New Species bub's arrival!!! Loved the new characters like 927, who is very similar to Valiant in that he's a bit more wild, animal like and yet he was awesome. When he was rescued and taken back to the Reservation, Breeze took an interest in him and I hope they end up together!
This book had it all for me and I could rave about it endlessly!!!
Overall an amazing addition to the series and I just know will stay a fave, bring on the next book!!!
This is an enjoyable read however it should be clarified that parts of this story are quite dark. There is the abuse the new species experienced before being freed; both of Tammy's kidnappings are by violent men and she suffers violence, torture and the threat of rape and death, and being drugged. Valiant is feared by all but a few, and his commitment to Tammy is both touching and amusing because of the contrast it offers to how others experience him.
What makes this series interesting is a race hate thing, as humans show prejudice against the New Species. In the background are the mad scientists who got rich from manufacturing the New Species and plot evil deeds to hold onto their income stream.
There is a lot of heart in the story of the abused New Species trying to adjust to their freedom. Their loyalty to each other is touching as is their need to belong somewhere. Anyone who has spent time with refugees or foster kids will appreciate the emotional realism of this series. But in case you are not feeling too deep, there is also buckets of sizzling erotica to keep you entertained.
We met Valiant in book 2 and I found him intriguing then. In his own book he was fantastic, I laughed at the banter between Valiant and Tammy in the beginning of this book and how Tammy got the better of Valiant.
I love Valiant to pieces; he has stolen a piece of my heart but Tammy is a very strong character in her own right.
When Valiant goes after Tammy to save her the first time she was kidnapped, I was jealous but when he went after her the second time Tammy was kidnapped, oh boy. Hot stuff with lots of growls.
Loved the scene where Valiant and Justice scared the pants of the lowlife lawyer. Brilliant.
The humour and caring that is staring to grow in this series is wonderful and we are meeting more New Species which I love. Cannot wait for 927 to get his story.
The way these New Species appreciate every little thing around them after being raised in cells, labs and the abuse they have suffered, just makes me want to hug them all.
I have reread these books numerous times and still love them completely each and every time I read one.
I have reviewed them previously but there has been a problem with reviews disappearing. I understand how important reviews are for authors and as it is no hardship to read them once again, I am writing reviews as I work through the series.

Valiant is one of the less social New Species, he lives on the reservation by himself and he looks even less human than most other Species. He's large, he's scary and he wants to be left alone. All that is tossed aside when a small human female stumbles onto his territory. She's scared, lost and attracts Valiant as no other has. With his lack of social skills, unwavering determination and more than a little lust he quite literally sweeps her off her feet and into bed. Although forced to let her go he doesn't forget her, nor she him, so when she's suddenly kidnapped Valiant is called to track her, and when he finds her he suddenly finds he can't let go.
I wasn't entirely sure I was going to find this as good as the other two books. It starts rather suddenly and the time frame in which the romance progresses is small, but by the middle of the book I couldn't put it down and once finished I was desperate for more. I truly hope there will be another book in the series. From the last few pages of Valiant i'm betting Tiger will be involved if there is another book (and i'm glad of that, the hints of his dislike of mating would surely lead to an amusing story should he be made a main character in one of the next books)
1. why are all the new species males going for humans when their surrounded by their own women and swore against doing so
2. why are all the human women getting into rape scenarios
3. why are we not reading about more new species characters than a handful in each book
thought valiant was an amazing character and liked his aggresive dominant attitude so really wanted him to pick a female of his own species ideally and to see something new coming from them but Tammy was decent enough.
the issue about her being something more than human was mentioned a few times but never resolved so thought that was pretty pointless.
I think i'm going to skip to book 9 to read about a proper new species couple with Beauty as that's what I want to see more of and the next few all have human females even though Justice has sworn not to
Bk 1. Fury
Bk 2. Slade
Bk 3. Valiant
Bk 4. Justice
Bk 5. Brawn
Bk 6. Wrath
Bk 7. Tiger
Bk 8. Obsidian
Bk 9. Shadow
All of these books can be read as stand alones and at first i didn't read them in any particular order. However the next time round i did and i have to say that given the fact that we are learning about the beginnings of new life for the New Species and due to important events that take place and people that we meet along the way, it really does make sense to read them in order.
We first met Valiant in Bk2 Slade fleetingly and i knew from that, that he was going to be a real character. He is a huge, hairy and scary New Species male with lion DNA. He has all the alpha traits along with a tendancy to roar a lot!
He has facial features that look more animal than most of the other males and is considered to be unpredictable with a staunch dislike of humans. (though he can't really be blamed for that).
Some New Species like Valiant, haven't quite got the hang of social skills, and these guys live in 'The Wild Zone' part of Reservation away from the rest of the New Species population.
Tammy is a human, part of the catering team on Reservation. On her first day working there she gets given the wrong map and accidentally ends up wandering onto Valiants' territory.
Despite his dislike of all things human, Valiant is overcome with the need to possess this small female and so kidnaps her!
They overcome that small problem and throughout the book we are witness to Tammys' ability to attract trouble, and the horrid displays of racism directed toward this poor couple from humans and New Species alike. Despite this there is a lot of humour in this story and i love that Valiant is brutally honest and more than a little vulnerable, though you wouldn't guess from all the roaring that goes on.! So much drama and loads of misunderstandings. Valiant is actually a really funny, loveable guy and Tammy is part human, part crazy, so a match made in Heaven!
We meet up with favourites from the previous two books, especially Slade, Trisha, Justice, Breeze, Tiger and Flame.
Out of the whole series this was one of the stronger ones for me as it provided both great entertainment and escapism.
