Product description

Naomi Wolf has tried hard to look at female sexuality as it really is, not as pop culture or political correctness would like it to be . . . The science of female arousal is complex and woefully neglected, and Wolf has done us all a favour by trying to drag it into the mainstream - Mail on Sunday - Jemima Lewis

Wolf's tome could not be better timed . . . at a time when Western women's bodies have never been more highly politicised, the one person who might be able to shine a ray of light . . . has to be Wolf. Perhaps this history will do for 21st century activism what The Beauty Myth did for 1990s feminists . . . Wolf is exploring territory we haven't heard about since Germaine Greer in the 1970 - Independent on Sunday - Viv Groskop

Worth respecting, even celebrating . . . there is [here] a very intriguing thesis about love . . . If you are one of those School of Cosmo feminists who has been arguing for decades that women should be more like men sexually . . . then Wolf's take is genuinely revolutionary - The Times - Sarah Vine

Part memoir, part cultural history and part scientific journey around women's sexuality, the best elements of which illuminate how little women generally know about their own anatomy - Guardian - Emma Brockes --This text refers to an alternate kindle_edition edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Book All Men (& Women) Should Read
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 25 November 2020
I bought this book for my wife 7 years ago. She loved it. And she said to me, “Piers, you need to read this book!”

I'll be honest and admit that I put off reading this book for many years. Why would I want to read this? - I told myself.

Fast forward to this year and during lockdown I started to read the book. I then went back over it and started to take notes.

Wow! What a great and sometimes heart wrenching book. My wife and I have been studying Tantra and Taoist sexual teachings for about 12 years and what I loved is how Naomi Wolfe married these ancient teachings with the science. In the same way that Dr Joe Dispenza has married self-development work with science, Naomi Wolf has done the same here with sexual work and the vagina.

I hear what people say about the science being hard to read or that it needs more editing. In certain chapters she brings in a lot of complex ideas but in my opinion I understand it 100% better than when I started so I think that she has done a great job.

Some people have said that the science is suspect. I disagree. Yes, she puts her own opinion in from time to time and states that it is up to each woman to gauge what is right for herself. Saying that I feel that rather than just draw from published studies she has gone to meet the scientists and therapists herself. She shares in this book direct interviews with leading experts who have worked with sexual trauma, and scientific studies. I find that invaluable.

Vagina by Naomi Wolfe is amazing from a man's perspective. I work with men who struggle with trauma or struggle in relationships and I ask all of them to read this book.

In my work and in my own life I have seen first hand that as men we do not understand women sexually. We wonder why our wives no longer want sex with us. We wonder why our women are very sexual at the beginning of the relationship but then they go cold. This books explain why.

For a man the last couple of chapters, one of which is called Radical Pleasure, Radical Awakening, are gold. In them Naomi directs us through about 10 keys to improving our sex lives. What can we do as men to start to rekindle and reawaken our sex lives and our relationships again.

The book also delves into the subject of porn addiction and how it changes our brains. Again this is very powerful reading for a man to hear the physiological changes that are happening when we become addicted to porn and how that then affects our sex lives.

I also found the chapter on how the Victorians were with sex and what has been happening in war torn countries in Africa to fill me with shame as a man. I didn't realise just how bad things were.

So overall I have found this to be an incredible book. Really. I recommend that men take the time to read and study this. You will not only understand your woman better and women as a whole but you will also start to be able to support your partner to more pleasure, openness, creativity and love.
