Product Description

Dean Goldsmith is Indiana University’s star quarterback, and his dreams are about to come true. His undefeated season means he has a legitimate shot at the NFL. If he stays focused. Football comes first.

College senior, Grace Yeates, is determined to defy the odds. She is months away from graduating with a business degree, something no one thought she would be able to pull off. All she has to do is focus on her number one priority. Family comes first.

Dean has no time for distractions, but when a gorgeous, snarky, redheaded waitress refuses to tell him her name, he can’t seem to focus on anything else.

Grace knows she can’t let herself get caught up in a guy, particularly a man-whore like Dean, no matter how charming or sexy. She has two hearts to look out for now and no room for a Dean-sized distraction.

Everyone in Dean’s life agrees that Grace is the kind of complication his career doesn’t need.

Grace knows that Dean is the kind of risk her heart shouldn’t want.

But what if the last person you think you need, the one you shouldn’t want, becomes the one you can’t live without? Can their biggest distraction actually be the focus they were missing all along?

YA, sports romance (very light on the sport though which is college football / NFL). This book is part of a series, but can easily be read as a standalone.

This is a quick, sweet read. It features some strong characters in Grace, the stoic single mum, Finn her cute as pie 4 year old son, and Dean the swoon worthy football star. The storyline is a familiar, well worn one but does work to a certain extent.

This is a nice, safe read, not over challenging.

4.0 out of 5 stars I do enjoy how she is tying them together nicely and how ... 1 June 2016

Laura has a talent for scooping you up and taking you on a journey quickly! I very rarely read books in one sitting and while there is a predictability to her books, I still want to keep going and going to make sure I am right. I do NOT want to give away any secrets or surprises from the book. I do enjoy how she is tying them together nicely and how we will get to see our characters again in future books, even if just for a moment. I love finding out about how "Not Yet" characters are doing and finding out the love stories are still progressing as we HOPE they would. There are moments of sadness and heart ache and then always moments of perseverance and triumph. These are truly the epitome of romantic beach reads and I enjoy them a lot.

I started out not caring for Dean, he was such a man whore and Gracie was a little too tough but as you learn her story you can understand and sympathize with her and Dean changes so much just being around Grace and Finn that you grow to love them both and can actually feel the chemistry between them. They did, if course have their ups and downs but at least they worked through them fairly quickly and we weren't left pulling out hair out and yelling at our kindles for very long lol. The family members and friends are important in this story and you can see where a lot of the series is going to go with the friends and family. I Casey wait to read Daisy and Jon's story next. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves an engaging and well-written tale.
5.0 out of 5 stars Gotta love a strong woman 22 April 2017

I really enjoyed meeting Grace. The author paints a brave, tough and fierce heroine who never backs down throughout the story. She guards her family at all costs and chooses her son every time. The reformed football player who pursues and catches her is a nice sidebar to her tale. Integral to her healing, but I'm sure she would have done just fine without him. Well told, without getting bogged down in all the losses that have befallen Grace. Ward lets her emerge proud and strong in the end.

5.0 out of 5 stars I adored this one! <3 20 April 2017

I was really hoping for Dean’s story and I wasn’t disappointed!

Okay, at first…. He’s a douche… like a major douche. He was in the last book too, especially to girls. These boys have no respect for women, at all. Like if they get shot down, like if a girl isn’t falling all over them, it’s because there is something wrong with her… because they're just that amazing that everyone who looks at them cannot wait to rip thier clothes off and have their babies....right?
Well.... it didn't happen for Grace. She had other things to worry about, than a big headed, conceited, playboy like Dean.

Grace was making her own way in life, with no help of anyone but the manager and owner of the diner that she worked at... Knowing that Grace had so much on her plate and no one to help her, she took her under her wing and helped her as much as she could.

Now, I love me a hot guy who loves kids and turns into a good daddy... I loved Dean in this one. This storyline couldn't have been more perfect for him and I fell in love with him so quick! How could you not? The way he was with Finn? Sighhh.... swooning over here.
Things aren't perfect though, Dean has a great family that he's close to; Grace has none. Dean has money, Grace has none. Things come pretty easy to Dean and Grace has to work tooth and nail for everything she has... it's a tricky balance. They get there though because Dean is crazy about Grace and her Finn.

With the draft coming up, things are bound to get tricky. I could've knocked Jon out when he went to see Grace at the diner. I was hoping we'd get to witness at least a black eye for that lol, I mean, his heart was in the right place, sure, but his execution was ridiculous.
Another part I didn't care for, was that this was set in Bloomington Indiana. I live 10 minutes from there in the tiny town of Bedford... their football team sucks and it's not a cool place to be lol
And Payton Manning is way over rated! I'm glad he's gone...
BUT, that's my own personal prejudices lol I just had to mention it.

Other than that, I loved this story soooo much. It was perfect and I can't wait to read about Jon and Daisy!

The progression of the relationship between Dean and Grace was very realistic. Dean settled in to be the man others knew he could be. He changed from from a self-centered ego driven jock to a respectful, responsible man through his meeting Grace and her son. I loved that the intimacy was drawn out and not crudely described when they eventually consummated their relationship and sealing their commitment to each other. The only thing that kinda bugged me was the amount of swearing, but that too was realistic enough of everyday life. It just took away a bit from the story for me.

The story just sucked me in from the beginning and held me captive to the end. Simply beautiful!
