And when her most beloved patient suffers horrifically, all Aspen cares about is healing her--even though her son has a special way of igniting a fire she thought fizzled out long ago.

As a private security officer, Anderson Hawkins puts everyone's life before his own. With his mother fighting for her life in the hospital, Anderson is hellbent on finding a way to save her. On the plus side, he gets to spend his time with a sexy and fiery ER doctor who would do anything for his mother. Though Aspen seems to be pulling back—away from any feelings she may have for him. Now, it's up to Anderson to prove that they can build a future together if they both let go of the past. Can Aspen trust her heart with someone when she already feels "dead on arrival?"

Favorite Quotes:

I could blame my mother and her loud voice. She’s part Greek and part Puerto Rican. Unfortunately, her entire family lacks volume control. They scream ‘how was your day, sweetie?’ The same they yell, ‘pick up your room before I turn your hide red with my belt.’

This is right, my heart agrees and my soul demands it.

Anyone can make your heart beat, not many will shake your soul,

You know why I don’t weight much? … It’s because the only part left of me is my soul. It’s light, but able to carry all the love I accumulated throughout the years. That’s all I’m taking when I leave.

My Review:

I lost my breath several times while reading this book. The storyline and writing were poignant and so very thoughtful; I was quickly swept up by the narrative and transported into Anderson and Aspen’s world. The characters were compelling, endearing, and highly relatable. I was captivated by the dichotomy of Anderson and what and how he was dealing with the extreme shifts in his life. His mother was fading away before him and while he was grieving and coming to terms to a future without his last remaining relative, he was still willing to open his heart for the first time, to an extremely complicated and wounded woman, who was his mother’s neighbor. I adored these strong, intelligent, and appealing characters and was immediately engaged and mesmerized by their story. Written in my favorite form of dual POV, the story was well paced and artfully constructed. Ms. Burgoa has mad skills and strong word voodoo. Once I started reading, I was unwilling and unable to put my kindle down for longer than was absolutely necessary. Sigh. She is apparently as addicting as cheesecake, but thankfully, not as caloric. This was only my second experience reading Ms. Burgoa’s magical words, although it was more than enough to compel me to add her entire backlist to my TBR.

This is a beautiful story of lost love , second chances and family. Beautifully written its a slow burn , a story of a young ED doctor working constantly trying to forget the pain of losing the love of her life , who was lost at war. Until the Gorgeous Anderson another military man comes into her life and the battle now is not to fall again.

Anderson , is sexy , compassionate and loving. The relationship between him and is mother is heartbreaking beautiful. I dare you not to fall in love with Anderson and Sophie.
The friendship between Aspen and Brynn is what girls friendships should be. There for each other no matter what.
The book was a bit long and at times I did want to say to Aspen get over it but otherwise I really enjoyed this book

This book could have been a 5 Star story, but due to the many spelling, grammatical and phrase errors, which had me re reading sentences or just pausing me from the flow of the story, this is a 3-3.5 Star though nevertheless, I did like all the characters.

5.0 out of 5 stars I loved this suspenseful, raw, and emotional romance! 3 April 2017

This story swallowed me whole and wouldn't let go even days after I finished reading it. I was enthralled with Aspen and Andersons' tale from the very first word. Aspen is smart, brave and caring, but she has never gotten over the heartbreak of losing her fiance eleven years ago. She keeps busy trying to help others in the ER and at the free clinic. She isn't ready to open her heart and take the chance of losing it again. She has been through so much hardship in her life and is determined to keep herself safe and away from change. Anderson is the mysterious, sexy tattoo artist whose mother lives next door to Aspen. Aspen and her friends have grown close to their aging neighbor and are happy to look after her when Anderson leaves for work, sometimes weeks at a time. But when he is home, he is determined to break down Aspen's walls and make her let go of all her fears. They are the perfect match for each other because they are both fighters. Anderson has also faced so much in his life and Aspen has become a source of strength for him and has shown him another path to love. Aspen is surprised at how safe she feels with Anderson. But is it worth the pain and heartache when secrets are revealed and danger is at your front door? Ms Burgoa is brilliant at creating intriguing and poignant tales with multifaceted characters that make you experience every emotion. This story is fast paced with twists and turns that are suspenseful, raw, and emotional. But through it all, there is a connection between Anderson and Aspen that is pure and healing. This story made me feel so many intense emotions of love and loss, loyalty and betrayal, passion and heartache and I loved every word of it. It makes me excited to read more about the fun and compelling friends involved in this story. I highly recommend this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Top read for 2017 4 April 2017

The blurb is good. The cover is beautiful. The author is amazing. But the story… the story is breathtaking. Until I Fall will elicit feelings and emotions in a way that only some books can.

Aspen and Anderson. Just the names alone make me want to go reread their story.

Aspen is guarded, solely by choice. Yes, she’s experienced some loss in her life but she finds comfort in drab, monotony; the only excitement coming from medical emergencies that show up in her ER. I wanted to shake some sense into her a few times. Knock her upside the head (gently) and tell her to snap out of it! She still has SO much going for her and she’s not LIVING. Under it all she has a strength and a longing to live again that you are constantly rooting for it just may take a certain someone to pull her back to the surface.

Anderson is THAT guy… I don’t even know how to describe him. Yes he’s hot, yes he has a panty-melting smile and yes he has muscles that magically glisten in the sun even when he’s not sweating. He’s the ULTIMATE book boyfriend. He’s the bad boy who loves his mama… the gun toting, world saving bad ass who can kiss your pain away. See, I can’t stop myself… I could go on and on about Anderson. He’s Aspen’s little magic pill. He is exactly what she needs. Doesn’t crowd her to the point of being uncomfortable but doesn’t let her push him away. He makes her want, need, love…

I absolutely loved this book. Not only is the heart of the book a love story but it’s a realistic one, at that. There is action and a bit of covert operations stuff that’ll keep you on your toes. There’s a dog… I love when there’s a dog haha the characters are well developed and the story is well written. Even the supporting characters leave you wanting more! This was everything and more and so very well done thanks to the talented Ms. Burgoa! She hasn’t once let me down and her work just keeps getting better.

I’m a fan for life. The book and Burgoa! A solid 5-star read and definitely in my top reads of 2017.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gut wrenching tear jerker 4 April 2017

All I can say is do not loose your box of tissues. You will need them for this book. This is a book of such sadness and growth and I don't even know how to begin talking about it. Both characters have been through so much and lost so much, but Hawk isn't afraid to give love a chance. Aspen has cut herself off from emotions. She works until she is so exhausted all she can do is fall into bed just so she can stay numb. Aspen has left her emotions suspended in time and encased a wall of ice around her heart. Hawk helps her thaw and come out of the pain filled haze she has been living in. As she grows to love him she finds she must come to terms with other aspects of her life that she has been pushing to the back of her mind. This story made me cry several times, but there are fun parts, and sexy parts too. This was a spectacular read and for fans of the Deckers , there are cameos from some of them. I really hope to read Brynn and Scarlet's stories next.

4.0 out of 5 stars An Emotional Journey! 3 April 2017

Wow! What an emotional story. I am surprised about how many tears I actually shed. This story was very interesting. First of all, there are a lot of really interesting characters. Right down to Hugo the dog. There are so many dynamics amongst the relationships between the characters. This story is told mostly in the present, with a good amount of looking back in the past. Secondly, the best compliment that I could give this story was that I really felt things. I could feel the passion between Aspen and Anderson. I could feel all of the losses that Aspen faced in her life. My real job is in a dialysis center and I help people face end of life situations all of the time and watching someone succumb to cancer is devastating and I could feel that in this story. I can't imagine it's easy when you put words to paper, hoping to convey all of the emotions that you want... but Claudia totally did. I wouldn't mind reading some more about the other characters though (hint, hint). :)
