I don’t like writing too much about the book for spoiling the read, but if you like a down on her luck kinda of girl with a traumatised protective alpha finding each other in a related circumstance than give this book a try.
The above would , and should have been enough, but the brilliant performance of the narrator, just added further dimension to an already well crafted tale.
If you listen to only one audiobook this year, make it this one!!!
Two characters brought together by terrible circumstances that changed each others lives. One affected by a terrible tragedy, the other framed and imprisoned.
Daisy is determined to get her life back and her brother whom she has raised. She ends up working for Kas who has a split personality, mask of calm one moment and angry the next.
Both end up attracted to each other however their circumstances hold each other at arms length. So they never really know each other.
I loved the twist that altered the direction of the story, especially the range of emotions that each character brought. It had me wondering whether a HEA was in sight - which thankfully there was.
First I've read from this author, Im keen to read more.

She gets a job from her parole officer cleaning Kastor's house. From her first day working here her boss seems he has it in for her. He's moody and Daisy is not sure if he hates her and just doesn't care enough to have any feelings towards her.
I’m poor and a criminal; therefore, I’m beneath him. I’m beneath everyone. I’m branded for life. I was always poor. Now, I have the criminal tag to go with it. Well, aren’t I a perfect catch?
Kastor Matis is dark, moody man who spends his days either working out, in his office or making things hard for Daisy. He is so hot and cold with her from the start. He's keeping secrets from her and he knows he should stay away from her but Daisy seems to be irresistible to him. Watching the push and pull between the two was a page turner.
However there where a few things that frustrated me with this book. One being the story is set in London, England but Samantha's writing seemed to be very American. The American phrases with the British slang thrown in was very mixy matchy! She should have stuck with one of the other.
Secondary characters are a big thing for me and there was potential with Cece and Jude they just weren't developed enough for this to be the case. The ending was my favourite and I also think the Epilogue could have been way better. These few things aside it was a good story and I did really enjoy it.
It started well but just seemed to lose it along the way. Writing was so weak and the plot was just so unrealistic. I felt that it was a little all over the place. Heroine was quite immature for someone in her mid 20s and Kas who started out as a responsible adult (I actually thought he was at least 30) turns out to be quite young and complicated. Just ruined it for me.
I read somewhere that this book was re-written in parts (an old story brought to life now) but it wasn't good. There's no sizzling chemistry between the two main characters.
I see that some people mention all the americanisms and it's full of them together with someone from Poland being deported in this day and age???? Poland has been part of the EU for over 12 years!
Gah! I'm so disappointed. Just feels like ST needed to get a book out, never mind the quality. I've read the storm books over and over and this was just not up to scratch. Waiting for something great from her soon. Her last book was also a little lazy towards the end.
I only gave three stars cos I got to the end. Sadly, not good and I'm surprised at the 5 star reviews!
Daisy May Smith also know as May day by her friend.
A fellon, a victim of a wrongful arrest for a Robbery she didn't commit, set up by her boyfriend and her only crime loving the wrong guy.
Kaster Matis, also known as Kas..
A mystery, the owner of an estate, a broody guy who comes across as Lord of the manor and is rightly nicknamed by Daisy as Kashole.
When Daisy first gets out if prison her sole purpose is to get her brother back who was put into care when she was sent to prison.
Following her release Daisy is offered a job from the probation service as a maid on a private estate which is when she is introduced to Kaster Matis.
Daisy is no pushover and despite her position refuses to let Kashole's Moody ways and icy stares drag her down.
Kas and Daisys relationship is a gradual build with neither if them letting people in easily.
The chemistry is hot and the suspense, mystery, twists and turns surrounding Kas, his past, his present, his secrets, keep you eagerly anticipating the truth to unfold and you are kept guessing while at the same time rooting for Daisy to finally have things go her way.
A plot with mystery, suspense, danger and revenge.
I loved the British dialogue, the characters and the plot was brilliant.
I listened on audio with brilliant narration that brought the characters to life.
Told in first person dual pov, leads to hea.
Daisy has just finished an 18 month spell in prison for a crime we know from the outset she did not commit. But in the process she lost everything, her home, her job, her little brother. Now she’s released and been given a job on the Matis Estate but her boss is an arse. Infact Daisy even nicknames him Kas-hole! However, as readers we also know that something pretty awful happened to Kas Matis when he was young so we can kind of let him off the hook a little bit for his behaviour towards Daisy as we know underneath the hard exterior he’s a broken soul. Their relationship is stop and start, push and pull as Kas fights with whatever it is he’s fighting.
I loved Daisy, she was strong and feisty and a fighter, not letting what happened to her dictate her future. I have read EVERY single book Sam has written and with Unsuitable I didn’t even bother to read the synopsis, that is the level of trust I have built up with this author and I honestly think this is my favourite so far. There were twists in the story I did not see coming and the writing was totally believable. I read it in less than a day, I laughed out loud at Daisy’s inner thoughts, I cried outwardly at Kas’s words.
What I feel for you is debilitating and terrifying and exhilarating…and the best thing to ever happen to me. And, if you only ever believe one thing I’ve told you, then believe this; if I could love someone, then it would be you, Daisy. A million times over, it would be you.”
Unsuitable reaches out, grabs you, pulls you in, weaves some sort of spell over you so that you read it one go and then once its finished you end up in an imaginary tailspin ending in a heap on the floor feeling like you’ve truly experienced something special!
It surprised me (in a really good way 😊) and I was completely hooked from start to finish.
This book had everything I love to read in a book: suspense, humor and last but not least hot chemistry💕
I highly recommend it and if you love sexy romantic suspense with some twists and turns then this is the book for you!
