Unstoppable by Amity Cross
I really wish this Unexpected series was Unstoppable but alas, here is the last novella (can you tell I’m in a slump LOL)
This is the story of Rob, Affliction’s drummer. Even by his own admission, he is often overlooked and to be honest, I didn’t really pay much attention to him as he wasn’t a big reoccurring role (well played Ms Cross). But rightly so, when the spotlight was put on him, it was hard to look away.
Rob is the one I feel the most for. His s***ty upbringing was out of his control but he’s taken it personally till this day. The others in the band have met their loves and he’s still on his own. That is until a chance encounter with Lilly in a dark alley as she’s being assaulted. Rob steps in and she’s the first person, in a long time that made him feel needed.
Underneath that foul mouth (hmm), surly demeanour (judging covers), there’s a true gentleman (yes!). He doesn’t pressure Lilly, he just wants what he’s been missing from his life, for her. He wants her to feel that she matters. Lilly is holding onto a potentially deadly secret but once she finds out what Rob’s holding onto, she knows she can’t do the same. She really has a conundrum, she wants him but she wants him to be safe.
As always, the writing is explosive, fast-paced and everything I love about Amity’s work. Again, the only complaint is that it’s too damned short! The other flip of the coin is that this is the perfect afternoon read. Being able to fit backstory, current story, hot ass sex scenes that are appropriate and not just thrown in to meet some ‘erotica’ criteria all in a novella shows a true talent by the author.
LOVE LOVE LOVED this series. I know I will go back to it when I’m in a reading slump or just when I feel the need for feels. But for now, I feel like I’ve been touring with the band and we are now on a vacation. Only problem is, I wanna keep touring but like all good things, they must come to an end. I just have to start hassling Amity now for a comeback tour!
I bought this novella with my own money and I always give an honest review
