Product Description

What happens when a single mom’s four-year-old daughter falls in love with Mr. Right and she doesn’t?

Maggie Tyson’s rule: no bad boys. Her incarcerated ex-husband broke her of that attraction. Needing to escape his threats and the scrutiny of the people in her hometown, Maggie relocates to New York City. Determined to not make the same mistakes, she has a mile-long list of dos and don’ts. Unfortunately, her daughter, Cecily, doesn’t like to follow them. When Cecily wanders away from her and right into Rick Stone’s office, Maggie knows he’s the exact type she’s been trying to avoid. Can she resist him or will she succumb to his willful charm?

Rick Stone’s rule: bed them don’t wed them. Running a multibillion dollar business doesn’t leave him with much time to do anything else, particularly with an overbearing grandfather breathing down his neck. But when a man works hard, he needs to play even harder. Voted America’s most eligible bachelor, Rick doesn’t have any problems getting women into his bed—except one.
Two auburn beauties stumble into his life.
One will break his heart.
The other—heal it.
Will he love or leave them?

Contains mature content and language. Not recommended for readers under the age of eighteen due to sexual situations and subject matter.

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

I enjoyed watching Rick's fall in love with cute and rambunctious 4 year old Cece. I like that the story gives us a cast of characters both good and bad. The romance and interest between Cece's mother Maggie and Rick is really hard work which means that when heartbreaking events occur they hit me hard. I cried big tears.

I did have two issues with this book that held back my rating. The first was I didn't warm up to Rick until half way through the book. I'm kind of over rich, CEOs who don't want to marry and just use women for sex. The second issue is that the book went on far too long. I felt the story was never going to end and I wanted it to get to the point.

The author provides a nice ending as well as bonus material which lovers of a happily ever after will enjoy.

3.0 out of 5 stars Unlikely Allies review 6 July 2015

This is one of those books that has me on the fence, which means it's time for a pros and cons review...

-The characters-even with their faults, I found them interesting and likable. Maggie's daughter CeCe truly steals the show, as does CeCe's relationship with Rick.
-The plot and storyline-it's solid, and not one of those overdone tropes.
-Every single scene between Rick and CeCe. Every. Single. One.

-Those character faults-Maggie's attitude toward Rick and hot/cold inclination, as well as Rick's toward her, along with his seeming inability to really put Julia and his grandfather in their respective places...those things grated on me, especially for as long as they went on in the story.
-How drawn out the story was-it felt like a lot of the first half to two-thirds of the book could have been compressed and still have told the overall story just as well.
-The story didn't focus enough on Rick and Maggie, I felt their interactions were too few so I couldn't really feel them as a couple until the very end.

The epilogue makes up for a lot, and gives a lot more insight into Maggie and Rick's lifetime, which was a nice way to end. Overall, it was a nice read-just a little more drawn out than I would have liked. But everyone should wish for a sweet, precocious child like CeCe, and even more so that whoever they spend their life with should have a relationship with their children like Rick does with CeCe.

3.0 out of 5 stars I wanted to like this book so much more 8 August 2015

I wanted to like this book so much more, but in the end I just couldn't give it more stars. The sample I got drew me in, I'm a sucker for the non settling down guy and along comes a kid:), but once I started reading the story was more about the daughter and less about building the relationship between the two main characters. There were times I would get lost in the story, whether it be jumping around in dates, or doing a past conversation/memory thing, it ended up coming across as confusing and unorganized. I also felt like the same point was being repeated over and over again, I found myself skimming through pages when certain characters would talk about the same things. Overall not a horrible story, but just unorganized and drawn out

This is my first book by this author and I wasn't disappointed. Cece is absolutely adorable. Rick is so good with her. Rick and Maggie's relationship was a slow burn but it was well worth it. I enjoyed the whole cast form Emma to Matt. I like when a book has a great epilogue and I loved that the author showed years down the road and Cece all grown up and meeting her match!!! I would enjoy seeing what happens with Cece and Carter!!!

This was a really hard book to get into but I've never tried this author before. Normally I can get drawn into the story but this one I skipped pages at the end the mother annoyed me as she was pushed around by her daughter and I don't get why the person liked her at all.

This is precious. Cece just steals the show and how she melts Rick is so so sweet. The change in Rick and how he finally realizes what is important and stands up for it is nothing short of amazing.

When you first begin the story you wonder where it is going. This precocious little girl searching for a mouse and having no issues speaking her mind even to Rick. Rick who is burdened with so much expectation and trying to not break a promise closing himself off even though he is nothing short of a kind, loving man. The two meet and she just melts Rick into a pile of goo.

One little girl does this to all of us at one time or another. Children with their capacity to be themselves and love us and trust us. Their way of seeing the world just helps to transform us into who we want to be and in this book we see that happen with Rick. Cece does this. He teaches her what it means to love unconditionally and that family and love is important. She opens him up again and makes him whole.

Maggie is stubborn feisty and an amazing mom. As we watch her baffle, amaze and take on Rick you smile. These two and their seesaw and dogged determination not to like each other or find comfort in each other will have you smile and root that they end up together.

Each character from the stodgy grandfather who turns into a teddy bear, to the sweet mom of Ricks and the awesome friend Matt help Rick along the way on his journey to seeing that love and family are what is important. It is the slow and beautiful relationship though of Rick and Cece that steals the show and your heart.

The writing is sweet and the story endearing as you root for Rick and Cece to become a family for each other. Every tender moment that is shared between them tugs at your heartstrings and shows you who Rick really is. This is the beautiful sweet story of Rick who finds love and what is important with the help of a precocious and precious little girl named Cece and how together they find each other and family.
