Product Description

A new adult novel from Entangled's Embrace imprint...
He's the last thing she wants…but the only thing she needs.

Willa Peet isn't interested in love. She's been there, done that, and has the shattered heart to prove it. Ready to shake the breakup, she heads to Dublin, Ireland. But there's a problem. A dark-haired, blue-eyed problem with a bad attitude that rivals her own. And he's not doling out friendly Irish welcomes.
Shane Claymore just wants to race. The death of his father forced him off the Formula One circuit, but he's only staying in Dublin long enough to sell the Claymore Inn and get things in order for his mother and younger sister. He never expected the sarcastic American girl staying at the inn to make him question everything.
But even as Willa and Shane's fiery natures draw them together, their pasts threaten to rip them apart. Can Shane give up racing to be with the woman he loves, or will Willa's quest to resurrect the tough-talking, no-shit-taking girl she used to be destroy any hope of a future together?

... however, it just hasn't got that extra something. Shane and Willa are good characters and the story is fine, but something is missing. Cannot put my finger on it just now - it needs some kind of 'zing'.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tessa Bailey knocks it out of the park with her first New Adult novel, Unfixable 15 April 2014
By Kellie - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
Willa Peet is lost, trying to find the whip-smart firecracker she used to be. Reeling from the breakup of the relationship with her first love, and at not even twenty, she firmly believes she's broken, unfixable.

Until she wins a photography competition and finds herself in Dublin, and crosses paths with Shane Claymore, the owner of the guesthouse where she'll spend her month in Ireland. They strike sparks off each other right away, but he's got no time for anything but focusing on selling off the family business, and returning to his car racing career.

Unfixable is Tessa Bailey's latest release, a spinoff from her compelling Line of Duty series, and her first New Adult novel. (While Unfixable spins off from Bailey's Protecting What's His, there is sufficient background for this novel to stand alone.)

Willa's a superb character. Despite thinking she's broken she still has plenty of fire to her. The way she plays Shane at their first meeting is hilarious. Despite the way she thinks about herself, she's more than capable of deep love.

Shane is a standout. He's a vintage dirty-talking, charismatic, sexy hero, for which Tessa Bailey is becoming quite well known, but what a complex character. Tortured by his relationship with his father, bearing the guilt of his death, there's nothing he wants more than to escape from the family legacy that weighs him down, and head back to the career he loves. Orla the barmaid says it best, in Unfixable: "Irish men are a complicated sort...don't judge by what you see on the surface, or they'll knock you on your arse when you're not looking".

Unfixable is a perfect blend of hot sexy and sweet love. We hurt for Willa and Shane as they hurt themselves and each other, cheer them on as they challenge each other and try to work out a way past their differences and the 'use-by' date that circumstances have placed on their relationship. But it's the growing past the beliefs you hold about yourself that keep you from moving forward, that's a real coming of age. Such good subject matter for this New Adult story, Bailey's first effort in the genre, which she handles skilfully.

The setting is absolutely stunning and evocative, right down to the rendering of the Irish burr - it's like being there, walking along Baggot street hearing those voices yourself. The supporting characters are beautifully drawn, including Shane's family members. They're funny, caring, but never sink into cliché. They all have their own wants and desires, their own hidden pain.

I highly recommend this book for readers who like their contemporary romance sexy, but like the emotional side too.

5.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful, fun, hot, dirty ride of a book!!! 15 April 2014

As with every other book of Tessa's, this is one beautiful, fun, hot, dirty ride of a book!! I woke up with my kindle by my head because I just couldn't put it down last night!

I have so many favorite scenes and clips of Shane and Willa's story! Watching the way they fought against the pull of each other - and then raced toward each other - {deep breath} SIGH!!! wow! I enjoyed being in Willa's head and loved seeing how her photography moved her. Experiencing how Shane pushed and encouraged Willa to just be Willa, and took care of his family - my heart melted! But Shane also knew how to wring the shivers out of me too: Having to chase you only makes me want to pin you down. Um, ok!! (but I'll still fight it just to make that pin worth it! haha!)

Another one of my favorite things about this book, catching up with Derek and Ginger from Protecting What's His - one of my favorite couples ever! Ginger's love and advice and encouragement to Willa brought tears to my eyes, and Derek just being Derek... sigh! Couldn't have been better! Loved seeing their family grow and Derek's response to that.

Tessa - it's awesome knowing how near and dear to your heart Willa and Shane are - and you shared their story with us perfectly! I love the experience you gifted to us! Thank you!! <3
5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant. 29 May 2016

After reading a string of mediocre to boring romance novels, this story caught my attention quickly with the intro of the male character, Shane Claymore. He's an interesting, mysterious character that quickly intrigued me to keep reading. I liked how he challenged and captivated Willa Peet, the female character of this story, against her will. I liked how she didn't like and fought against the emotions he made her feel.

Willa Peet (19), is convinced she's irreparably damaged. Unfixable. Willa is recovering from a bad break-up that she blames herself for. Willa is hardened and calloused. She's bitter. Very very bitter and basically angry at the world. She's difficult and doesn't have friends nor does she want friends. She doesn't smile. She embraces her flaws and demands control over herself and her destiny. She never allows anyone to get too close to her. Not if she can help it. When she wins a photography contest that takes her to Ireland, she meets and clashes with Shane Claymore...owner of the Inn she's staying at. Shane forces Willa to question herself and she doesn't like that.

Shane (how old is he again??) tall with stormy blue eyes and dark brown hair and he's tied down to caring for his dysfunctional family when he'd rather be pursuing his racing career. I loved his arrogance and mystery. Just his whole alpha male domineering character was what really drew me in to this story.

I loved how this author doesn't allow the attraction of Willa and Shane to overpower the storyline. I loved the incredibly, excruciatingly slow and gradual build-up to the first intimate moment between Shane and Willa. Wonderfully told with just enough detail. Brilliant story of life's struggles and emotional healing. And told in such a way as not to be depressing. Brilliant and definitely worth the time to read.
5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE LOVE LOVE!! 15 August 2016

That's s was the first book I ever read of Tessa's I was Hooked instantly. She is an amazing author. You will not be disappointed in this book. Will a is the sister of Gwen from the book "Protecting What's His" . While it's not necessary to read one before the other, some questions that you might have after reading Unfixable can be answered by reading Protecting what's his ( I read them out of order) Willa needed to get away and find herself but what she finds is an extremely handsome bar owner Shane. She is spunky and independent, he is all alpha and brooding. The book is so well written you actually feel like you are in the story while it's happening. The characters are very relatable, similar to members of your own family. You desperately want them to get together and live happily ever after from the start. I COULD NOT PUT THIS DOWN. Does not end on a cliffhanger unless you consider not wanting the story to end a cliffhanger ;) :) Happy Reading!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hot and beautiful love story! 14 April 2014
By Marta - Published on

As a fan of Tessa Bailey, I thought if knew what to expect when I picked up Unfixable. Hot guy, beautiful girl, heartwarming love story that I would re-read many times. I got so much more than that.

Willa is on a journey to rediscover herself, find out where she belongs, and figure out how and why she could end a long term relationship with the first love of her life. She's a mess and thinks herself unfixable - not fit to be in a romantic relationship or deal normally with others because of the way she was raised and how she has turned out.

Shane (hot and beautiful man) is a race car driver with a lot of obligations to his widowed mother and younger sister. He's trying to do what's right by them so he can take off and race cars again. His late father did a number on his head and he constantly feels unfixable himself.

Willa and Shane meet when she wins a contest that takes her to his pub/inn in Ireland. There are fireworks around them from the beginning but that's not what got me. These two people carry such sorrow and shame inside them because of what was done to them as children. Their journey from that place of brokenness to a place where they feel free to love and give love in return is so beautiful. You feel the emotion come through the pages, the self doubt, the sadness. Whenever Willa and Shane come together, it is undeniably hot but, at the same time, you feel how it cleanses them of their past and what they think if themselves and what this new love does to their souls.

I absolutely loved this book and am only sorry it ended. Outstanding job, Tessa!
