The Unexpected Series
Book 1: Unexpected Rescue (novella)
Book 2: Unexpected Trust (novel)
Book 3: Unexpected Engagement. (novel)

Shrapnel from an explosion tore up Jackson’s leg and ended his career as a Navy SEAL. Being forced into the civilian world was bad enough, but being told he’s crazy is intolerable. No matter what the doctors or anyone else tells him, he knows a supposed ally was responsible for his injury, and that same man is determined to shut Jackson up for good.

When Jackson sees a kayaker clinging to his boat from the balcony of his beach house, his instincts tell him something dire is about to happen. Jackson rescues the injured man and insists on hiding him until a former SEAL teammate arrives. As Jackson struggles with separating reality from soul-shattering flashbacks, the injured man’s compassion and growing trust tear down his barriers, and Jackson begins to wonder if his heart is as dead as he’d assumed.

Unexpected Rescue by Silvia Violet

Unexpected Rescue grabbed my attention quickly and kept me reading straight through to the end. I absolutely could NOT put it down! The plot was fast paced and interesting. It was a very quick read, so if you are someone who doesn't have time for a longer novel, this book would be perfect for you.

The characters were believable and complex. Jackson is a tough alpha Navy SEAL, and Addison is incredibly sweet. There is an instant attraction despite their life and death situation.

This was the first book I've read by Silvia Violet, and I can't wait to jump into book two! I need to know what happens to Jackson and Addison ASAP! Silvia Violet has a new fan!

I reviewed this book on behalf of A Book Lover's Emporium book blog.

2.0 out of 5 stars After reading it I was left feeling like this was part one of a three part novella ... 23 January 2016
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com

So my intention was to read a story and then write a quick review, this was assuming after finishing the first story, that each story was a continuation of the same two MC. That assumption was based on the lack of detail I felt I was given during this story and the way the ending was left. Also the fact that first story was only about 70 pages long. After reading it I was left feeling like this was part one of a three part novella series about Jackson and Addy.

But after refreshing myself with reading the blurbs of the other two books, I noticed that it appears each new story has a new set of MC’s. If this is correct and we do not revisit these two then that will effect my final review.

Have you ever been dropped into a story and you think, man, that is going on? But this time it never went away. The lack of back story on either MC, the story of how they got to the point we met them and start this novella.

That all being said, Addy and Jackson make a good team, and the little we do get of them together, is enjoyable to read. The way Addy doesn’t necessarily believe or trust Jackson but is willing to go along and give the benefit of the doubt. Until things are proven.

Also the way that everyone thinks that Jackson nuts but has his back in a crises.

My problem was this couple of likable points didn’t make up for the rest.

4.0 out of 5 stars The emotional and physical drama of an ex-seal and a beautiful man 8 April 2015
By pamkaymmbloggers - Published on Amazon.com

Silvia Violet has done a great job in bringing a story line of action, drama, emotion created from the past, and intense attraction!! Jackson was an ex-seal who his last mission had blown up In their faces literally. He lost a man right in front of him and his leg was severely damaged which took him out of what he loved, being a Seal. In order to get his head on straight, he goes to an island off of North Carolina and stayed in a beach house to sort everything out. He still had the nightmares, the flashbacks, and of course the intense pain of his leg, so he wasn't sure what he was going to do next. As night approached he sees something near the shoreline, someone was holding on to a kayak in the water. He rushes to them, even with his bad leg to try to save him. As he is doing this, he hears a boat motor coming in their direction. Going in Seal mode, he pulls the stranger from the water and behind the dunes for protection. When he no longer heard the boat, he gets the stranger up the stairs to the house. The man was beautiful, with a broad chest, and Jackson felt a sudden attraction to him. But the man was injured from a gunshot wound in his arm. All Jackson could think of was getting him warm and ensure the wound wasn't still bleeding and hopefully providing safety. Jackson finds out who the man is, Addison (Addy), who provided activities to the tourists on the island, including kayaking. Addy is confused and afraid of Jackson, but the two get to know each other as Jackson takes care of him. Jackson's fears are that the same man who betrayed them in his last mission is after him and thought Addy was him... What are they going to do now? So he calls his best friend to help!! The story is a very intense, action packed, and a page turner... Was this man going to change Jackson's life?? This was a good read. Enjoyed it!! Waiting to read the next..

4.0 out of 5 stars B+ rating.... 29 November 2013

My Review:
This is a short little book, but it's definitely not short on story or drama. Jackson is trying to get his head and his life back together after being wounded on a mission that went terribly wrong and he lost his SEAL career for medical reasons. He's staying for a short time at a beach house to do that and is on his porch when he realizes there's a kayaker in trouble. He soon realizes as he rescues the kayaker that he got into trouble because of Jackson. Jackson is the only person who knows that that mission which went wrong was because of a traitor...a traitor who's out to get him now. The kayaker got shot because the shooter thought he was Jackson and the story unfolds from there.

Jackson is a character that I immediately fell in love with. He does what he has to do to save Addison, regardless of how much damage he's doing to his own already broken body. He knows that everyone thinks he's crazy, but he can't let Addy go into danger just because no one believes him. This is a guy who stands for what he believes in...if he gets arrested for that eventually, or his body doesn't recover, well, that's the price he's willing to pay. How can you not love that about a guy?

The story was good and I liked the added dimension that Sport added to it when he arrived. (Maybe a future story here?? I could definitely get behind that idea.) I loved Jackson, hands-down, his character was incredible. If I could change a single thing...I would like to have seen more from Addy...maybe some scenes from his POV? I feel like I didn't get to know him enough during the story, although what I did get from him I loved.

I would definitely follow this author if more books come out and this becomes a series....
5.0 out of 5 stars Unexpected Gem 10 December 2015

As other reviewers have mentioned, this book surprises you. It surprised me! I do not often read short novellas, as they rarely give the depth and complexity of a full length book. Ms. Violet (who I think is a terrific author) totally nailed it in this short story. She gave us the back story while perfectly blending it with the current one. Not rushed, which often happens in a novella. I never felt short changed. Really strong characters, good suspense, heartache, unwavering friendship, hope, sneaky, unexpected humor and oh yeah...smokin hot sex. Great set up for the next story in the series. You won't be disappointed.
