Overall this was a sweet, fairly easy to read romance between Greg and Tanner. I had not read any of the previous books in the series so I had no pre-conceived notions about Greg and thought this could standalone.

Regarding the story- On the one hand this is about a man who for his whole life has been opposed to anything homosexual due to a religious upbringing and political beliefs, even going so far as voting for prop 8 to deny gay marriage.
On the other hand, this is about a middle aged father of three and recent divorcee, who meets a man and realises something about himself he had repressed his whole life. Something that makes him a better person, a better father, and makes him complete in a way he's never been before.
I'll admit I read this because the POV of Greg intrigued me. How would he reconcile his feelings with his long held beliefs?
Well, although there is confusion and wondering, once Greg realises that being gay isn't a choice he accepts it very quickly. I was surprised that politics and religion don't really become a huge part of the story. In the end it becomes about Greg accepting himself and coming out to those around him.

This was my favourite out of all four books. And thats saying a lot because I absolutely loved the first three books. Greg totally redeemed himself, in my eyes. What a beautiful story. Well done Isabelle. I'm certainly looking very forward to the next instalment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love is love 31 August 2016

Greg Fairchild was at a loss to why his marriage to Elizabeth came to a sudden stop. He thought they were happy. He provided the financial security for his family and Elizabeth was the emotional support for their three children. Living in a dark and empty hole after Elizabeth files for divorce - he doesn't know how he's ever going to move on.

Greg has the support of his friends who try tirelessly to set Greg up on blind dates to no avail. Then he meets Tanner Williams - a professional soccer player who is moving to Napa to coach the new team coming to the area.

There's something about Tanner that excites Greg... In more than one way. But wait... He's a Republican, and a strong opponent of gay marriage... He's not gay! Or is he? No Tanner is just a good friend, that's all he can ever be.

But as Greg's eyes start to open to the problems of his past with his marriage and other things, maybe he's just been in denial to who he really was all along.

An amazing story of a family and a man who finds their truth in life. And love is love and it's not a choice but just the way God made them.

This a part of the Dreams series but can be read as a stand alone but I highly recommend this series!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing!! 15 November 2014
By Sheri Bishop - Published on Amazon.com

I have been a fan of Isabelle Peterson since I bought her very first book, Ditching the Dream, and Elizabeth & Jack have been my all time favorite book couple. I never thought I'd feel differently. But after reading this book, I can honestly say that is no longer true. Greg and Tanner, even being a gay couple, have officially dethroned them from the #1 position. I had never read a m/m love story and was very uncomfortable with this subject matter. But as I read, Isabelle wove the story, the characters, and the emotions so well that I could not help but fall in love with this couple and their journey.

This book tells us the story of Greg, a 40-something man, who was raised by strict religious parents and has just gone through a divorce that he did not want. He meets a man, Tanner, one night and starts to have, according to Greg, inappropriate reactions to him. Isabelle leads us from the first meeting, through the courtship, to the HEA so very well that if I didn't know better, I'd swear Izzy was a gay man in real life. She, so expertly, makes you feel all of Greg's feelings as he comes to terms with the fact that he is a gay man, has been a gay man all his life, his wife was correct in her reasoning behind the end of their marriage, and he loves another man. While Greg is the main character, Izzy doesn't ignore the other characters and their feelings. She weaves in Tanner's, Greg's ex-wife's, Greg's children, Greg's friends, Greg's family's feelings into the story at the most appropriate times.

I know I'm not doing this book justice in my review but that's the reason I'm not the author. I just want everyone to know what an INCREDIBLE book this book is. Buy it, I guarantee you won't regret it!

Greg Fairchild has recently divorced and is having a difficult time processing the fact that his marriage really is over. He starts feeling down and can't find anything to help with his mood until he meets Tanner Williams, a professional soccer player. They become fast friends and Greg discovers why his marriage really failed. Isabelle is an amazing author and pulls you right into the story of her characters, that are genuine and so believable. Absolutely CANNOT wait for the next book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Heartfelt and Steamy all at the same time! HOT HOT READ! 5 December 2014

Unexpected Dreams is book 4 in the Dream series. This is a M/M novel.

Warning! Be prepared to melt! This is Greg's story and how he copes after the divorce. After being married for over 20 years, how does he go on in life and start over? Why on earth did his wife leave him? Greg just wants answers and boy, will he find them in the most unexpected way possible. Greg meets Tanner Williams in a bar and steps in to help Tanner before some big brute beats on Tanner. This forms a friendship between Tanner and Greg.

What Greg doesn't know is that Tanner plays for the other team and is attracted to Greg. Greg doesn't realize this until they've been hanging out and Tanner goes for the kill and kisses Greg. Holy Hotness! Greg kisses him back and likes it, but he's just so confused. Greg has always been a ladie's man, so why is he sporting a rock hard tent for a man?

Unexpected Dreams is a heartfelt story of a middle-aged man trying to understand himself and how he's lived so long being married to a woman. How did he not realize after all these years that he's attracted to men, well not just any man, but to Tanner Williams? Tanner is a superstar soccer athlete with the body of a God! Tanner is charming and sweet. He's never been in a commited relationship but he will do anything to help Greg cope with these new changes that have stirred up his life.

This book is my first ever M/M novel. I admit I was terrified to read this, but with all the teasers I've been seeing and after hating Greg so much in the prior Dream series books, I just had to give this a try. I absolutely loved it! What did I love so much? It's that Ms. Peterson takes a serious issue that so many men and women have to deal with in everyday life and she writes it so beautifully with so much emotion and tenderness. Greg and Tanner's story was very well written and I loved that I connected with both men right from the beginning. Don't even get me started on the sex! It was STEAMY and so HOT! Get ready, this is a panty melting read!!! If you've never read a M/M novel, I highly recommend this one. I loved the entire series but I must say, this was my favorite in the Dream series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Greg finally discovers what it feels to "want" and be "wanted" - Amazing read 23 November 2014
By Penny - Published on Amazon.com

Where to start? This is truly an exceptional and unexpected love story of a man that was married for 20 years, has three children and finds himself wondering why his wife left him. His journey leads him to Tanner and the discovery of what it means to "want" and be "wanted" and question everything he thought he knew. Isabelle writes this incredible M/M story of self-discovery for Greg and the joys and confusion that accompany him on his journey. The love that blossoms between Greg and Tanner is palpable and as you read each page you don't realize this is gay sex but just amazing sex about two people that happen to be in love - you become lost in it. This is simply a story of a man coming out of a closet that he didn't know he was in and the realization of what love really is.

Ms. Peterson does a phenomenal job of bringing in the Fairchild family and our beloved characters from Ditching the Dream, Not In My Wildest Dreams and Chasing The Dream. Beth and Jack, Phoebe and Charlie, Kevin, Tanner and all Greg's friends make this a very worthwhile read. Unexpected Dreams is one of my favorites of 2014 as are all of Isabelle Peterson's books. This novel held my interest from the beginning to the very end and I am very glad to give it a 5-star recommendation!
