The author has crafted a well written and researched story around events in the Great War both in France an South Africa.
It has very human elements of love and sorrow as well as the more gritty aspects of war. One comment I would make is the addition of a glossary of unfamiliar terms used as an appendix would be helpful to decode some of the obvious archaic terms used to lend a period feel to the lingo used. Well worth a read.
