This story is not my usual genre but I'm so glad I ventured out of my comfort zone. Gar Hart is a journalist trying to make a crust in the ever changing media world and I admire the length he will go to in order to find the truth behind a good story. Sometimes I found myself almost shouting out loud at his craziness but I also grew quite fond of him as he weaved in and out of trouble. Even though I had a couple of late nights with this excellent story I can't wait for the next instalment.
What starts out as a quiet evening in Gar's mountain retreat suddenly takes off with a frantic series of shocking and unexpected twists and turns. We just have enough time to gulp down a beer and bed an old flame before we are catapulted into an outrageous yet totally believable world created by master thriller writer Mark Furness. As we dodge the ruthless attempts on the life Gar and his family by a gang of psychopathic villains we get to the end of Part 1 salivating in anticipation of what Parts 2 and 3 will disclose.
This sharply written thriller boasts a cast of ruthless corporate villains. They'll do anything to protect their ill-gotten fortunes from our edgy journalist hero, Gar Hart. Will he uncover their dirty deeds? Will their murderous hirelings blast him into oblivion? I guess we have to read Parts 2 and 3 to find out. I'm totally hooked, so I'm along for the ride.
