Under the Covers (Maverick Montana Book 2) Kindle Edition
The small Montana town near the Kooskia reserve seemed like the perfect place for Juliet Montgomery to hide from her not-so-law-abiding family. But when her peace is shattered by a break-in and threatening phone calls, it's clear someone back in New York knows where she is. It's time to plan her getaway, and fast—but first, she needs to tie up a few loose ends and find out exactly what the town's sexy cowboy sheriff is hiding.
Sheriff Quinn Lodge has enough demons of his own to know when someone's hiding something, and he's determined to uncover what's beneath Juliet's uptight, city-girl exterior—preferably one piece of clothing at a time. But when their chemistry goes from fizzy to full-on explosive, things start getting complicated.
How can Juliet stay beneath the covers with Quinn, when doing so means blowing her cover?

A great story and I loved how fast paced it was but still had enough detail I didn’t get lost. I also had a few really loud chuckles with all the town and family antics but it just made this book that much sweeter😍

I felt extremely sorry for Juliet as she is a basically decent person who just happened to get tangled up with bad guys through no fault of her own. Unfortunately the sexy sheriff she is attracted to is very much a black and white kind of guy. If you did something wrong you should be punished. No excuses and no exceptions. Though he does have a warm and fuzzy side to him which he will never admit to anybody.
Good plot if somewhat predictable. And some really humorous scenes too. Little sister bursting into the bedroom was a classic for me. So did enjoy this but not sure if I will bother with the rest of the series.
Rebecca Zannetti has nailed it and given us a book that is quite possibly better than its predecessor, which is no mean feat as that was fabulous. It's well-written, the characters we loved from the first book are ever-present, it has a great storyline with some action and moments that make you smile and laugh along with those that are romantic, passionate, intense and just downright hot and sexy. I devoured it.
Sheriff/Cowboy Quinn Lodge oozes appeal on every possible level; he is sexy, stubborn, patient and dominant, but in that totally natural protective enforcer-of-the-law type way. Juliet is Maverick's elegant, sweet-natured and graceful art gallery owner who is hiding some secrets. Easier said than done, particularly when she is being pursued by the law. And I'm not talking about the justice system here, I'm talking about one sexy Sheriff who is very pleasing on the eye and has a way with words to make your heart, amongst other things, flutter...
I loved them both. Their stubborn natures resulted in sexual tension, passion and explosive action under the covers/on tables/al-fresco. And all perfectly balanced with lovely tender and romantic moments; Quinn truly managed to make me swoon. His family continued to be wonderful, the banter between the brothers brought many funny moments and it truly was a book that captivated me from the opening chapter and never faltered. A series not to be missed and I cannot wait for the next trip to Maverick.
This time around, it is the story of Quinn Lodge, and art gallery owner, Juliet Montgomery.
Juliet is running from her dubious past, and Quinn can smell a rat a mile away, but is already in too deep! I loved the two characters, and the chemistry/sex scenes were sizzling - yum!
I docked this book one star as the ending was a bit rushed (as was the previous book). I understand that Brazen stick to a certain page limit, so that may explain it!
Also, everyone within the Freeze/Lodge family (and their respective partners) ALL get along almost too well, which is not realistic! We need a bitch or a complete manwhore thrown into the family to ruffle some feathers! lol!
Otherwise, great book, and I look forward to the third installment.
As always, it was a well-written, enjoyable read.
