Oh I so love kindness. Thanks Evangeline, such a gifted lady! The story is beyond amazing as usual. This story was extra intense with the hive chasing.... can't get enough lol. Look forward to the next story. Highly recommend this series.

Whilst this book will please most of Ms Andersons fans, this series is not what it stated out as anymore. Too dark for me.
Be warned this book contains a forced medical rape scene.
I was really not happy with this scene. It may have been done medically but a woman screaming NO and still losing her virginity to a metal tool is wrong on so many counts.
Brynn was a tough cookie and I felt really sorry for the lack of love from those abominations called her parents, or otherwise known as the King and Queen of Galen.
Whilst my heart bled for Varin or Bereth and his lost childhood and family, once his chip was removed he only remembered Brynn due to the Goddess intervening or he would have quite happily gone on with his life and maybe bonded someone else.
I have loved this series since book one but it is no longer filled with nail biting tension and interesting discoveries, it is just becoming dark with very little of the original concept utilised anymore.
This series is losing its edge and is not about the Kindred anymore but about how cruel and horrible people or aliens can be to others. Slavery, mistreatment, nasty women at court and Insectoids that want to rape and breed woman with viable DNA.
By the end of this book I was sick of all the attempted forced sex.
The main part of the story was enjoyable and I really liked both Varin and Brynn and had great empathy for their life stories, the remainder was quite gory in places which is not my thing.
I am sorry but as Sovereign X’izith survived and they now plan to use earth women, I think this will be my last Kindred book. I cannot take any more of the Hive and its nasty insects.
I like to feel good at the end of a book, not freaked out and queasy.
Will be sticking to the Alien Mate Index series.
This is my honest review of this book.

One of the best books I’ve read. You will not want to start reading too late at night because you will not want to put it down and stop reading. Highly engaging story with lots of different emotions.
This story is about a princess that was sent off to be raise by the Sisters of Chastity and Obedience. Making Princess Brynnalla very naïve in the ways of the real world. Upon returning home her parents want to marry her off to the highest bidder due to the fact they have a male heir.
Varin was bought as a slave for the Princess when he was 7 years old. A vision Kindred that was blood bonded to while she was a baby. At that point his whole life has been dedicated to train to be the best so he could protect her. But it’s had to protect her when she’s sold off and he’s not allowed to go with her.
This book has the whole spectrum of emotions running through the book. So very engaging that at one point I had tears of sadness and then tears of joy. This may be part of a series yet it is a self-contained story. Well written and very entertaining to read.

1.0 out of 5 stars Sad to say it's the worst in the series 1 April 2017

I have read every Kindred book as well as all the AMI books by the author. I liked each one in their own way, unfortunately I cannot say the same for this book. I do not usually leave 1 star reviews even if I don't like a book but I felt I had to in this case. There are 2 main reasons, the "throne" scene is basically a rape scene and is upsetting as well as unnecessary, while the bug scenes are simply disgusting. I'm disappointed & hope the author does not continue down this road in her upcoming works.

Same formula, same story different couple. A new super villan and the story begins again. Done.

I skipped through this one, sad but true, 2.5 stars is the official verdict, I don't know what it was, the villain was evil incarnate, the brutality in this story was chilling. The rape, yes rape instigated by the parents of the heroine done by a Dr and a machine, ick. And the control of the evil bastard was beyond annoying. And as with this authors books, there is no real smex or connection until the end, there is always something preventing it,the build up has become formula-tic same sxxt different story. I would like a kindred story with love from the beginning bonding early on and the drama weaved in throughout the story maybe a baby early on, a family life, passion, devotion understanding danger and all the good stuff, I'm tired of being dragged on by the same formula over and over again. So is this the last book, it just might be it for me, I followed the 18 books and their villan died I don't need to follow the next one. I will see. But please change the formula it's old and tired..

Love these books, so sad yet always a happy ending. The characters are all strong and capable. And the heroin is so sure she is unable to be as strong as she really is. Great storyline but kind of wish the end was a little different. Lol I am a little blood thirsty now we t go squoosh some bugs.

Although I usually enjoy works by this author, I had to force myself to finish this one. It just had too much situational darkness and not enough character development. It left me feeling...bad.
