If you’re a fan of the Lemony Snicket’s books or if you haven’t a clue what those are but love quirky characters, heinous baddies, courageous kids, intriguing plots and settings that will have you considering airline tickets, “The Unadoptables”, by Hana Tooke, will be your best friends😀
According to the publisher, this book is considered a middle reader, for ages 8-12. Limiting this book in that way would be a crime against literature 😳❗️ It is SO. MUCH. FUN!!! I expect it will be optioned by some studio in short order and that there will be a second, (and more), volume to follow. Please, let it be so?!?!?
Adults will enjoy this book as much as their kids and it won’t be a sacrifice to read it as there’s nothing juvenile about the writing. In fact, the language and vocabulary will be a challenge for most middle readers, which is a good thing. The story itself and the situations the orphans find themselves in gives readers much to talk about making this book a great choice for family book clubs, home schoolers, reading groups or anyone wanting to discuss “what it means to be a family”.
I don’t give books 5 ⭐️ very often but this book earned every one: great characters, excellent dialogue, multi-textured setting, original plot and just the right touch of humor in a story that could be dark and scary; instead, there’s striving, hope and ❤️
All things considered, a wonderful, immersive reading experience for readers of all ages📚
