Finding printed USAMO resources is difficult, and this is one of few collections with actual problems AND solutions floating around the market. While valuable to anyone who plans to take part in USAMO, the focus of the problems now encountered has shifted from what you will find in this book. Still, it is an interesting collection and great for extra-credit or independent study at the high school level.
Recall that being eligible to take the USAMO requires good scores on both the AMC10/12 and AIME (two other math contests) and that not all of the math encountered is expected to be taught in schools - much of the math in such contests is often not seen by the typical math student until the university level (mostly the discrete math topics like combinatorics and number theory). Do NOT assume that a proficiency in high school mathematics is anywhere near sufficient background.
