Product Description

One year ago, I became a missing person. I left everything behind—family, friends, school. It seemed like a good idea at the time. My only option, really, until I realized running from a police officer isn’t as easy as I thought it would be.

It’s been exactly three-hundred and sixty-five days since I left home, but I’m finally ready to take the step I should have taken a year ago. I’m done hiding. I’m done running. I’m going to take my life back.

It was supposed to be easy. A meeting with Jason Pierce, a private investigator, was set up for me. All I had to do was go to him, let him do his thing, and then I could go home, or so I thought.

That is, until I met Jason and things got … complicated.

I have been given an ARC copy by the author for an honest review.

5 AMAZING STARS. This book is seriously amazing. Everyone who knows me or follows me here, twitter or FB, just knows that I am a huge fan of Ashley’s books. And she didn’t disappoint me. No shock here. With every single book she is just getting better and better. I loved Soul’s Mark series, I adored and was fangirling over Aidan from Deadly Pack Trilogy, but let me tell you that: they were good, but this? This is PERFECTION for me. She hit the right spots for me.

My Thoughts:

In the story we meet Elena Reed. A girl, who suddenly decides to run away from home and was hiding for a year. On her 21st Birthday she decides to get help in claiming her life back. She wants to go home and she wants to stop running. So she sits in a shady bar waiting for her helper. And there she meets Jason Pierce. Handsome, confident and quick with snarky comments private investigator. But as always not everything is going according to plan. He thinks she is looking for fun, she calls him names, she runs, he chases her. Yep. Loved those scenes.

I liked Elena from the first page. She was shy, nervous and so scared, but from the beginning you can observe how she is maturing and becoming strong, confident and stubborn woman. My heart broke when she finally told her story. At the beginning I was sure she was a witness of a murder, but noooo…Ashley had to do something more heart clenching! And she did it amazingly.

Jason….oh my Jason….he is handsome, confident and sweet. He is a private investigator together with his friends, Wes and Vance, who are just as funny as he is.

Not going to say too much about this book....i can see that plenty of other reviewers have raved about it and given a synopsis etc.
All i can say is....i'm a bit underwhelmed. It was an ok read. It was a quick read, but i have to say that it was unimaginative, predictable and i found myself skimming through passages just to try and find the next interesting bit. Jason seemed like a decent guy, as did the other guys in his team. Elena was a bit flaky, but then she's only 21 and yes, i appreciate that she's had a traumatic experience, but her immaturity was not endearing to me. Perhaps, at 43, i'm just too old to appreciate this one.

I was skeptical when I read the blurb and reviews about buying this book. So glad that I did. This was a great story and one that I had to finish the same day I bought it!
Jason, his friends Wes and Vance were funny and made this book. Can't wait for hopefully Vance or Wes 's story soon!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars AMAZING READ! 3 March 2015
By Carrie Marie - Published on

This story is AMAZING! It's another FB find for me - I don't know the author, just saw a little snippet of a blurb from one of the blogs I follow & I was intrigued enough to check it out. SO GLAD I DID! : )

Elena has been on the run for a year, and of course she's tired of it. She happens upon someone who knows of a PI who can help her. She takes a chance & meets Jason, Wes, and Vance. At first, Jason is a TOTAL jerk, but it's only because he thinks Elena is messing with him. Once he figures out that she isn't, that she's really there because she needs his help, his Alpha-protective side comes out & he works his butt off to A) earn her trust & B) protect her from the DB she's running from!

They spark really quickly (LOL, you'll get why that's funny once you read this)(and I highly recommend this story!) & I L O V E their banter, their tentativeness, the boldness that's woven into that... There is tension (I wouldn't say angst) and some action. There's friendship & a broken relationship w/ his dad. This story has it all, and I'm looking forward to the next books in the series! : )

5.0 out of 5 stars The truth is...I loved this book! 26 April 2015

Well let me start by saying the editing in this book was Fantastic. I know that is a strange way to start a review but if you knew how much of a "grammar" snob I am you'd understand.

Elena Reed is in trouble and she needs help. Enter Jason Pierce. This story told by Ashley Stoyanoff leaves your heart pounding with excitement and lust. With each chapter you learn a little more about Elena's need to trust but finds it difficult to do until Jace breaks thru the walls. While she is overcoming her own fears and insecurities he must learn to forgive the man that hurt him but is also responsible for him finding love.

If you are looking for a book that takes a different approach at romance while including a few twists and turns then you definitely want to read this book!

1.0 out of 5 stars One star for the title referencing the game 8 August 2015

My "ticked off" list:
* Words of the Day: Umm... and Ugh! - author received a bonus if she used these "words" excessively.
* Note to said author: People doze off; they do not dose off (unless they've overmedicated.)
* What little there was of this story began when Elena's brother "sold her" to a dirty cop (soon to be her fiancé against her will... just how does that happen?). Anyway, this is done so the brother could have a lifetime guarantee of getting away with his many illegal activities. When she becomes engaged against her will (I'm not making this stuff up, folks), she decides to run away from home to save herself, her parents and evil brother. Never knew or understood why that was her only option or why her running away saved them, but whatever. The story ended a year later with her offering herself to P.I. Jason as payment for his help (never understood what exact help she was seeking). Seems she went full circle - one domineering man to another!
* The two main characters were all "my man!" and "my woman!" after knowing each other a few days - I half expected them to start swinging from vines and adopting a monkey named Cheetah!
* What was with the over-usage of 'darlin'' and 'yeah?' every time Tarzan opened his mouth? Two more bonus words, I guess.
* Not much conversation in the book but page after page of thinking. She'd say a word or two to him and then there'd be several pages of her internal dialogue; then he'd finally get to respond with one or two spoken words and there'd be several more pages of his internal dialogue. It took forever for anyone to have an actual conversation!
* This was one of those books that described the day's events, then have one or the other (or both) characters recall those precious moments in detail at the day's end. We basically get to read about everything twice, or sometimes three times!
* And please, don't tell me that he carried her into his bedroom and THEN expect me to read several pages describing the furniture, lighting affects, and the green bedspread!! Wonder what the thread count was on those sheets???
* At about the 62% mark I scanned ahead to the last several pages to see how this poor, sweet, abused, homeless, innocent girl managed to live happily ever after. And, of course, she did... Umm; Ugh!!

4.0 out of 5 stars All Truths Here! 7 April 2015

This was a very engaging story. It was hot, suspenseful, heartwarming, and addictive. I was drawn in with wonder about Elena, the heroine who has been running from her past for a year and is ready to face it. I melted for Jason Pierce, the hot private investigator she was recommended. He was alpha male protective and seriously hot. Wes and Vance, Jason's coworkers were instantly protective as well. The romance was pretty fast for me but the story as a whole was really good. I just feel like they needed further development and more time to connect and get to know each other. I look forward to the next two books in the series on Wes and Vance. 3.5 stars for me but I do recommend it as the story line is good altogether.

This was a great book. The story is a good one that keeps you entertained the whole time. Elena is on the run and Jason is the guy who is going to help her stop running. There was great chemistry between Elena and Jason along with good dialogue amongst all of the characters. I can't wait for more!
