Diese Kindle-Ausgabe vom Starscape Verlag entspricht vom Umfang her dem ersten deutschen Band, indem das erste englische Buch in zwei Bände geteilt worden ist und existiert parallel zu den kompletten Ausgaben von Tor Books B002U3CCYM .

Seit R. Jordan 1990 mit seiner epischen Reihe begann sind nicht nur über 20 Jahre vergangen, sondern es wurden auch diverse Auflagen der Romane herausgegeben. Nachdem er vor der Vollendung der Reihe verstorben ist, hat sie sein würdiger Nachfolger Sanderson 2013 nach 14 + 1 Bänden zu einem Abschluss gebracht.

Daher ist nun eine gute Gelegenheit als Leser der ersten Stunde, die Reihe noch einmal zu beginnen. Stellt sich für mich aber die Frage in welcher Weise:
- Die alten Ausgaben aus meinem Schrank, die aber schon leicht vergilbt sind.
- Die Ausgaben von „Das Rad der Zeit – Das Original“ (Piper-Verlag), die vom Umfang den englischen Ausgaben entsprechen.
- Oder soll ich den Epos gleich im englischen Original lesen? Mit dem Kindle und den implementierten Lexika mittlerweile auch mit guten durchschnittlichen Englischkenntnissen gut möglich.

Ich denke über den Inhalt dieses/dieser Romane braucht man nicht mehr viel zu sagen, das „Rad der Zeit – Wheel of Time“ gehört zu den ganz großen Fantasy-Epen. Es gibt zahlreiche Internetseiten in denen sich Leute, die noch nichts von Jordan gelesen haben, informieren können.

Diese Kindle-Version wird zu einem sehr günstigen Preis angeboten und ist gut geeignet sich mit dem englischen Schreibstil und dem Schwierigkeitsgrad vertraut zu machen. Sie beinhaltet ebenso wie die neueste deutsche Übersetzung einen weiteren Prolog – eine kleine Szene einige Jahre vor der Haupthandlung in dem Dorf der späteren Protagonisten – und hat mir gezeigt, dass die deutsche Übersetzung gut gelungen ist.
Einen halben Stern muss ich abziehen, weil keine weiteren Bände dieses Verlages in Deutschland zu erwerben sind.

Fazit: Das Rad der Zeit hat immer noch dieselbe Anziehungskraft wie zu Beginn. Dieses E-Book gewährt zu einem besonders günstigen Preis einen Eindruck des englischen Originals.

Ah, another book from Robert Jordan, albeit it is actually 1/2 of "The Eye of the World"

I never get tired of reading "The Wheel of Time." And if I may say so, this mega epic is destined to be one of the greatest mega epics in the fantasy world.

I am not going to discuss the book here. This book is the beginning of a long series of books and I can tell you that once you read this, you are hooked!

All the main characters make their first appearance here and Rand is the one which catches your attention. We all fall in love with Rand. And for those who actually follow the series, we all know what he has become.

Enjoy this book for what it truly is - a gift. And yes, some might complain that this is just half of the original book. Well, there is one extra chapter and of course the illustrations. I bought it simply because of that extra chapter.

And before you say that I must be crazy, I can tell you that I am not alone. Fans of The Wheel of Time bought "advanced" chapters of other books in the series before the final release of the full book.

And though this might be a spoiler to some, but the FINAL VOLUME is due soon!!! We (fans of Wheel of Time) waited 20 years to read this final volume of this mega epic.

This edition consists of half of the original book one. I enjoyed the story enough to want to read the complete novel, so ordered the paperback version of The Eye of the World. I was lucky enough to find books 2-10 at the local thrift store. While many people complain that the series is unnecessarily long and drawn out, it's a classic for a reason, and I look forward to reading more of the series even if it means skimming over portions upon occasion. The characters are interesting and the plot truly has the feeling of an epic tale.
