An English Couple in Oz.
Reviewed in Australia on 26 April 2020
I couldn't always come to grips with this book. Vicki, the author, comes to Sydney prior to her husband, Joe. I just couldn't believe she would purchase a house( previously tenanted) on the Central Coast horribly smelly and riddled with many other problems. The dollar signs danced before my eyes of the cost of bringing this house up to scratch. Then, of course, the problems employing Tradies. Unfortunately, most of the problems Vicki encountered, actually do happen " down under".
Vicki's descriptions of our Australian Flora and Fauna are so beautifully narrated. However, probably only the English would leave fruit out at night to attract the bats! They are certainly true lovers of nature.
Following hospital visits to ICU for Joe, who has a compromised health status, they certainly intend to settle here and live in their tastefully restored house with their dog and enjoy visits from their daughter, son-in-law and 2 granddaughters.
