“Buckle your seat belt. All by itself, the title of this book, The Two Lila Bennetts, suggests we’re in for a ride twice as wild as the average thriller. Co-authors Liz Fenton and Lisa Steinke deliver mightily on that expectation. Page by page, chapter by chapter, these consummate storytellers capture our psyche and our breath as they invite us to solve this ‘whose-doing-it’ masterpiece.” ―BookTrib
“The Two Lila Bennetts is heart-pounding action from start to finish. It’s Sliding Doors with a killer twist. I couldn’t put it down!” ―Aimee Molloy, New York Times bestselling author
“One fateful decision. Two unexpected endings. A perfect summer read! The Two Lila Bennetts cleverly weaves together two sides of one story in an engaging thrill ride that keeps readers on their toes―and turning pages. Thoroughly enjoyable!” ―Wendy Walker, author of The Night Before
“Liz and Lisa have done it again. The Two Lila Bennetts is a deliciously dark tale of regret and retribution, of new beginnings and the road not taken. Sharp, clever, and insidious, this one shines all the way to the pitch-perfect ending.” ―Kimberly Belle, author of The Marriage Lie
“The Two Lila Bennetts, by Liz Fenton and Lisa Steinke, begins with one of the most intriguing premises that I’ve encountered in a novel and ends with two jaw-dropping conclusions. In Lila Bennett, Fenton and Steinke have created a tough, complicated character whose life splinters into two very different directions the moment she makes a life-altering choice. Toggling back and forth between each of Lila’s fates, Fenton and Steinke masterfully blend both threads together, propelling the stories forward with hand-wringing tension. Clever, unpredictable, and obsessively unputdownable, The Two Lila Bennetts is psychological suspense at its finest.” ―Heather Gudenkauf, New York Times bestselling author of The Weight of Silence and Not a Sound

In this sliding doors style story we meet Lila Bennett - a lawyer who gets the bad guys off, who works too hard and is having an affair with her boss and best friends husband. She has made some bad decisions in her life. And with one decision we see 2 ways that her life could go. In one scenario he is taken hostage and locked up by a stranger who seems to know a lot about her. She is forced to confront her life errors and make good on them. In her other life she is free, and life carries on. A story about making choices and how they impact not only yourself but those around you.
Thanks to Lake Union Publishing and Netgalley for my advanced copy of this book to read. All opinions are my own and are in no way biased.
Lila Bennett would be an easy character to dislike but I had a soft spot for her, I found while she wasn’t an honest character her thoughts and perceptions of herself and her situation were very real. I’m a sucker for second chances even for book characters, Lila makes a lot of bad choices but we get to see her struggle with those choices and with that little devil and angel on her shoulder.
You’ll definitely be satisfied with the ending because in this case you get two.

I think the highest compliment you can pay an author is to finish a book at one sitting. I read this way past my bedtime as I had to find out what was going to happen to Leila. I think the highest compliment you can pay an author, or in this case authors, is to be so captivated to devour a book at one sitting. I read this way past my bedtime as I had to find out what was going to happen to Leila. If you are looking for a roller coaster of a novel you need to read this book as each chapter brings twists and turns.
Lila Bennett is an uber successful criminal defense attorney who made questionable choices regarding her life and career. We are shown how her choices affect her career, marriage, relationships with her Mother and friends. In this novel, which can be viewed as an homage to the movie Sliding Doors, Lila is presented with two alternatives to counter her choices.
Well reading this book I struggled with some of the decisions Lila made and yet found her determination for redemption uplifting.
This was an excellent read and I encourage you to experience The Two Lila Bennetts.
