Twisted Together follows Quintessentially Q and is the third and last book of a three book series and two novella, the second novella being recently released.
Warning: Twisted Together is a deeply dark romance genre, with abduction, non consent and bdsm, torture, and murder, and may trigger people who have certain issues, so if you do don’t read it, for those who don’t and love a dark romance, this is a great read and a great work of fiction.
Our beloved characters, Tess and Q (Quincey) are back again. As with the first two books, this is slow burn, only because of its vivid descriptiveness, so its a book that you will find hard to put down,
Throughout the book, and you do need to read them in order, we are always learning more and more of Tess and Q. As if you think you know all there is of them, you don’t. Their characters have grown and intertwined. Gone is their world of secrecy and seclusion. The world now knows Q is a man of morels and integrity and also of his birds, and so does the underworld.
Q is still the very troubled and extremely complicated person who makes his own life a misery, with an overwhelming need for privacy, his own self imposed rigid constrictions and self loathing. This is tested when he is faced with an easy decision to succumb to a certain or face death. Both choices will hurt Tess, but which one will he choose? Tess is still fighter, she fought her demons and nightmares with Qs help, and she will go to a place within herself to save her man and seek revenge. Tess is no weekend kneed heroine. The dynamics of these two characters is explosive.
Like attracts like. Everything about them is complicated, dark and messy to the extreme. This is a well thought out and a well written novel. The main characters and supporting characters are well thought out and well developed. This is my second reading of the series, and it wont be my last.

After reading and enjoying Quintessentially Q, I had to read this. Ms Winters has a reputation for putting her characters through Hell before permitting them a happy ending - or, at least, happy for them.
I'd give the first 90% of the book five stars. Q's crazy ideas to "fix" Tess, his hot-and-cold need to make her his wife, then the suspense that I could see building...and it was brilliant. I found the wedding and wedding night particularly weird - especially given the stress it caused the two main players in that particular performance - and the last chapter seemed a very odd, too-happy note to end on, for a couple as dark as these two. Admittedly, I've never entirely understood Tess and her relationship with Q - so perhaps this was always the way their story had to be. It was great to finally see her show strength in this book - for the first time, it seemed she really knew herself.
All in all, a brilliant story with a jarring end.

I would probably give this a four and a half star.
I feel like I have been on a strange journey and have survived the darkness. Q and Tess are forever imprinted on my soul. I loved this story but admit that I couldn't read all the torturous scenes describing Q's capture. It was way too dark and intense.
For me this story was a page turner and I was captivated from the beginning of book one. Pepper Winters is a true storyteller, but I do feel I have to go and read something a little more lighter next. I need some lightness.

I could not get enough of this book! Being the last book of the trilogy I was blown away! Pepper, you are an amazing writer and should be proud to bring such heartfelt, courageous and breathtaking words to all readers.
These books are addictive and satisfying. An intense, loving, beautiful series I have recommended to many. I'll forever be inlove with Q, tess and the story of freeing trapped birds ;)

Twister Together is emotionally deeper and more intense than the first 2 in the series.
It's hard to describe the feeling when I turned the last page however I do know, I'll never have my fill of Q & Tess's story.
Pepper... This series is one of the smartest series I have ever read. How you managed to write the characters, emotions and events is beyond me. You truly have a rare gift.

A truly ......oh hell I'm speechless. I don't know how to put into words what a great read this book, well all 3 are. I'm not a fan of bdsm etc but this is written superbly. If your a fan of fifty shades well this series stomps all over them and kicks them under the bed. It's brilliant.

Dangerously dark
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 31 December 2019Verified Purchase
So this is the third and final book in the Monsters in the Dark series and I have to admit, I’m gonna miss these guys. What an adventure!
This book was absolutely packed with action and suspense pretty much right from the beginning and I loved it. Och, it was wild!
TESS
Och...poor Tess! She was up, she was down, she was in, she was out and none of it in the way I would have liked. She tried so hard to get over all of the nasty stuff that messed with her head in the last few months, and to a point, Q had helped get her there.
But the thing is, the HEA I thought they had at the end of book two was torn apart horribly!
She lied to him and he had no idea.
She struggles with these awful memories every day and it messes up everything that they had going. She just can’t stand pain anymore and is trying desperately to hide it from Q.
When the truth comes out both of their worlds are shattered. Q realises that he almost went beyond the point of no return with Tess during one of their sessions and it chills him to the bone.
Both are broken-hearted but Q has an idea of how he could possibly fix everything. It’s extremely risky and unconventional but Tess is so in love with him and desperate to hold onto what they have that she agrees to his plan.
I’m not going to say too much about it or how it affects both of them as it would give away too much of the story but I will say that it doesn’t end there. Even more shenanigans are afoot and Tess’s strength and sanity are both tested to the max.
Q
I am so glad that we get to see things from Q’s POV again in this book. His mind is something I very much enjoy delving into.
He is trying so hard to give Tess everything she needs to heal. He does all he can but still doesn’t realise how broken she actually is.
After she gives him complete control one night in an attempt to make him happy, he almost goes too far. And if he had? It would have broken him.
Honestly, this whole book had my heart pounding. Not good for my anxiety but, who cares? That’s what I pay my therapist for :-)
FINAL THOUGHTS on TWISTED TOGETHER by Pepper Winters
While I enjoyed this book and the HAE they thoroughly deserved, I felt it wasn’t quite as good as the second book.
I was ready for it to end and while I certainly wasn’t unhappy with it or bored at all, It didn’t call to me the way the second book did.
One thing that had me screwing up my chubby wee face a little though was the stunt that Suzette and Frederick pulled at their wedding. It was...odd, to say the least, and for some reason just didn’t sit right with me. Not because I’m a traditional wedding type of gal, not at all. It just seemed like a very strange thing to do. I do get it, kind of, but just not what I thought fitted if you feel me?
So, yeah it was a nice ending for them and well-timed.
As Tess, herself said, “Everyone needs a Q”.

A captivating, endearing and beautiful dark romance
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 31 August 2017Verified Purchase
This series is worth so much more than 5 stars. Pepper Winters writes dark romance like no other. Her stories are captivating, her words endearing and her style is profound and beautiful. Her books stay with you and leave their mark on your soul.
Twisted together is a raw, unique and enticing story. The depth to which this author goes to describe and develop her characters, even the secondary characters is astounding. I have previously compared Peppers writing to a fine wine, you just want to saviour and taste every word she writes. Her writing inspires me and I am just left wanting more. Q Mercer has fast become a firm favourite in the many male dominant alpha characters I have read, he is like nothing you have or ever will read. The transformation of Tess Snow from book one to three is prolific; she becomes stronger, more determined.
I cannot praise this series highly enough. Definitely a top read for 2017 for me.

Q... wow.

One of my biggest hates is when an author changes what drew me to the story in the first place. When they make it dark, only to shine so much light on it, it becomes blinding.
I want an author to stay true to the bare bones of their story and their characters, and thankfully, Pepper did.
As with the previous two books in this series, it's not an easy read; in parts it made me feel physically sick, and certain scenes turned my stomach. I was on the edge of my seat, hoping and praying for revenge... you'll have to read it to find out if it was granted.
I adore the strength Q and Tess draw from each other, I love the people they become in this instalment, and I'm left wanting to know more - so you know the job has been well done.
Pepper Winters has an exceptional talent at turning the most unusual stories into ones that stay with you forever, ones you crave to read more of.
She creates beautifully flawed characters that capture your heart and refuse to let go... and you don't want them to.
She pulls you into the darkness and you go willingly, you need to follow... you have no choice but to follow.
Q and Tess are firmly cemented in my heart, I'll think of them often and when I do, it will be with love, affection and I'll admit it, a little jealousy that they're fictional.
I'm delighted to say, Q earns his rightful place in my top three book boyfriends of all time, well done, Mr. Mercer, my list very rarely changes.

fell at the last hurdle for me

I have to say i did not enjoy this installment like i did the other two, i struggled with this big time! It took an age to read and i found myself skipping scenes, did we really need all that time spent on Q healing Tess? it grew repetitive and boring and just when we finally make some progress more bad luck hits our couple, i gave off the biggest sigh when i realised just what was happening, how can anyone can survive what these two went through, what spoiled this book for me was there was just too much drama. The wedding, again a bit of a let down, after what happened to Q, i seriously would have expected him to be in a coma in intensive care, his recovery just didnt sit well with me, not after what he had done to him! and who the heck invited Brax? why did we even need him to pop up again, it was awkward and unnecessary, especially with his outburst during the ceremony then afterwards acting all pally with Q! Im glad however i did persist till the end, i loved books 1 & 2 and im sad that book 3 didnt meet my expectations

This was such a heart wrenching read but also very liberating. Don’t give up. The lead characters go through so much turmoil is unbelievable and the story takes you there. At times I found it difficult to read and had to take a breath. I’m so glad I finished it. This is one of the best triology I have ever read.
All I can say is thank you to PW for opening my eyes and always being aware what’s around you or your environment.
It’s a wonderful story and I would recommend you have to read it from the beginning with Tess story.
