The story follows Everly, a hilarious, potty mouthed, kicking-ass-and-taking-names heroine. She inherits a crass talking cursed baby goat called Willy, who likes to knife people. She’s accosted by 4 hotter than hell men who she can’t seem to shake. And it seems like they are after the same thing....... The story is pretty fast paced and for a first novel from the author it was well written. I would say it’s a slow to medium burn RH novel. I found it really hard to put down because I just needed to keep reading to see what she would do next! As with a new writer though, I thought there were a few teething problems. Such as a few things were left unexplained which made me have to read back a few times to see if I’d missed something. And a few things were glazed over that seemed kind of important to me? But all in all a great read and I am jonesing for the second book! Fingers crossed it doesn’t take too long. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS!
Interesting plot. One thing I'm getting tired of is a take no prisoners heroine who overhears bad stuff and then sneaks off. No! She would grab them by the ear and get it sorted. Overall that's my only gripe.
What an amazing debut novel!! Aster draws you in with a heroine who kicks serious ass, four hot guys pursuing her and a cursed talking goat named Willy. Although this book is a slower burn than I’m used to in RH, the character and tension building storyline more than makes up for it. Congrats Aster, well done!
