Product Description

Once upon a time, I was Morgann, a 9th century Irish calligrapher-monk.
Deirdre was my assignment, my forbidden love, a witch with whom I wrote a coveted book.
Unfortunately, our story didn't get a chance to become a fairytale, it turned out as a famous urban legend referred as The Black Angel Book.
In order to protect the book from getting in to the wrong hands, Deirdre cast a spell. One where I remember and she forgets. Under her spell, our souls travel from body to body until we find each other again. Eventually.
My quest is to find Deirdre, in whatever body her soul inhabits and trigger her memory. Only, the woman I find 1200 years later is not what I was expecting.
Rose is not my type but my soul yearns for her. Every sign tells me that she is my Deirdre. How do I convince this broken, quiet and unbelieving woman that she is my twice upon a time?
(This is a New Adult unorthodox fairytale, not suitable for readers under 18 years of age. ***Please note*** This book contains scenes of self harm which may be uncomfortable for some readers.)

Twice upon a Time is the first book in ( The Black Angel Book Series) by Hope Irving ,and I must say that I thoroughly this great story. Hope Irving has given us a story that will make you hang off each and every word in every chapter. The author has a cast of characters that I must is more like the people of today that we meet with their different problems and even their family dysfunctional is hilarious .The story is a blend of past and present that is mixed together ,but also gives us something extra as readers to enjoyed. I found that this story is quite easy to transition from one to the other without getting confused ,as to what is going happening. The twists in this story is something I don't expect ,and I couldn't totally put this story down once I start it. The romance between these two characters was quite intriguing their were so overwhelmed with each other that they couldn't express themselves . Their innermost thoughts was described by the author was written so well. Centuries ago a monk by the name of Morgann and a witch named Deidre crafted the Black Angel Book -the most powerful book ,that others would kill for it. But before they died Deidre casted a spell a upon the book to ensure ,that they would find each other again in another time. Their souls are in bodies of Virgil ,who's a calligrapher ,and Rose who happens to a on holidays and decides to take his calligraphy class. Poor Rose is depressed because of a break up is really for a summer fling. Virgil knows who he is and truly believes that Rose is his lovely Deidre .Can these two finally get together? I could tell you more about this story but that would spoil it for you. I highly recommend that you read this great story ,you won'tbe disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved this paranormal romance! 19 November 2015

Holy Cow, what did I just read?

^^^ This was my first thought when I finished Twice Upon a Time, the debut novel by author Hope Irving. I have to admit, paranormal romance is not something I normally read. I was hesitant to start this at first and it took me a small amount of time to get into the story because it is so different than what I normally read. The writing is so detailed and brilliant, and I quickly became familiarized with terminology that's used in paranormal romances.

I'm SO GLAD I gave this book a chance. I fell in love with the characters and the story has so many twists and turns.

Morgann and Deirdre first meet in the 8th century. Morgann has an undeniable attraction to Deirdre. He can't control how he feels about her and even though he's made a vow of celibacy, he breaks that vow with her, which is unheard of at this time. Without giving too much away, Deirdre and Morgann are torn apart, but not before Deirdre cast a spell for their souls to reunite one day.

Come to modern day and Morgann is now Virgil and he remembers his past and is searching for Deirdre, his soul mate, except he doesn’t know where to look for her. When he finally finds her he's conflicted on telling her about their past life together.

Twice Upon a Time is a captivating love story with supernatural elements and one hell of a character plot twist (seriously!). I was spellbound by this story and could not put it down. Hope Irving has set the bar for paranormal romance and I can't wait to read what she writes next.

4.0 out of 5 stars I would recommend this story to fans of romance, myths, and legends! 8 October 2016

Once upon a time, centuries ago, a monk named Morgann and a witch named Deidre crafted the Black Angel Book — a book so powerful, others would kill for it. Before they died, Deidre cast a spell to ensure they would find one another once again… in another lifetime.

Twice upon a time, their souls are in the bodies of Virgil, a calligrapher, and Rose, who on summer vacation, takes his calligraphy class. Rose is depressed from a break-up and ready for a summer fling.

Virgil is well aware of who he is and believes Rose may be his Deidre. He is dying to tell her but he has to be patient — like he is with calligraphy — in order to not scare her away. He also has to endure Rose’s games and her attempts to make him jealous. But how can he convince her when she doesn’t believe in fate? And what if he’s wrong? Maybe Rose isn’t his Deidre, after all…

I absolutely love how this novel is based on an urban legend that the author created herself! (I think; I couldn’t find an urban legend about a monk and a witch and a coveted book anywhere online.) I was intrigued by the star-crossed lovers theme and was eager to turn the pages to see how this story would play out.

This novel was more of a new adult, mythology romance than a paranormal romance or urban fantasy. I say this because Rose isn’t aware of her past nor her destiny and the setting is in Massachusetts which is otherwise ordinary. There are no roaming supernatural creatures, etc., and with the exception of the chapters told through Virgil’s POV, this story reads as a contemporary romance. Of course, the reader knows otherwise because of Virgil.🙂

I do wish their life before was elaborated on more because I really found the legend fascinating. Since this is a series, I’m hoping that just maybe there will be a book about Morgann and Deidre in there somewhere — even if it’s just a novella.

Also, the new covers are beautiful. I know there have been a few changes and they just get better and better!🙂

I would recommend this story to fans of romance, myths, and legends!

4.0 out of 5 stars I am not a fan of paranormal but the Synopsis caught my eye and I thought I would give it a try. 19 January 2016

I give this book 4 stars. I am not a fan of paranormal but the Synopsis caught my eye and I thought I would give it a try. As a debut author I feel like Hope did an amazing job bringing this story to life for me. I was captured and able to make it through the whole book (which doesn't happen often for me on a paranormal romance). I'm ready for book number 2 in this series!!

I love it!!! I don't typically read paranormal but I love the story of this book- series! I'm so excited for another book! I decided to read it because its based on Cape Cod in my hometown of Provincetown and I enjoyed the 50 shades series which this is without the S&M. I couldn't stop reading- Hope ends every chapter with its on mini cliff hanger and I have to read more. I neglected a shower and even sleep so I could finish the book and I can't wait for more! I'm in love with multiple characters and am so excited to see what their future holds.

This is the first paranormal romance I have ever read. The most fun part about it is that anything can happen because it is paranormal. The plot twist are unexpected and I found myself unable to put the book down because each chapter left me eager to know what would happen next.
Then there is the romance. The two characters are so overwhelmed by each other that they can't express themselves. But the inner desire they both feel is well described when the author describes their innermost thoughts. I found hoping they would finally get it all out on the table. The suspense was great.
