Review

Turbulence is a lusty ride through human desire - with air travel as the mode of transport! Bruce McLaren takes us on a 'not so lonely planet' trip around the globe and the reader gets to keep souvenirs of history and cultural observations along the way. Clever and funny, with references to great literature and historical texts, Turbulence brings an engaging character whose old fashioned grandness and formality is a refreshing trait in this modern world. The first person story telling makes you feel like you are sharing the adventures on the page. An excellent read!! - Miopollo

Warning! This is a book for a person with a curious but thorough intellect. If you are looking for something superfluous, don’t get this book. It will not hold your interest. However, I will have to say this work is the best piece of poetic prose I’ve read in maybe twenty years, if not more. NOT kidding! Exposition has been crafted seamlessly and so vividly, you can see it in UHD in your head quite easily. Usually most authors’ attempts at exposition bores me because it exposes the immaturity of the writers.

This isn’t my usual genre to read. This isn’t erotica, but it IS an erotically-charge dromp in the life of a young, scholarly archeologist staged strictly around and about flights to and from countries all around the world.

This isn’t a sizzling romance novel. It isn’t action-adventure or heavy mystery… unless we are talking the heavy mystery that is human nature… If you’re wanting to experience something a little different but know that you are NOT wasting reading time, I highly recommend this book. It’s a refreshing read about what could be real life for any one of us. – Ann Hupe

Passionate, compassionate, exotic, erotic, philosophical, intelligent, humorous. Deeply human. You will read it in one breath. – Marino Convertino

WOW! An incredible journey from young idealistic man to older tired journeyed man. He believed in nothing, but went on an endless search for the pure delights of life. He loved women, really, really loved women. His own hedonistic ways consistently led him further and further off his chosen path to the point that he was sad, tired and feeling life was ultimately pointless.  – Tracey FM

Turbulence straddles the genres of erotica, travelogue, philosophy, and, you suspect, (semi) autobiography. What is consistent throughout is his mastery of the pen, if not the sword, so to speak. Turbulence is a coming of age romp through the stratosphere, flitting from one exotic destination and coquettish damsel to the next, whilst gradually starting to acknowledge and contemplate his alter ego’s flaws and trajectory through lust and life. The pace sizzles, as Bruce nails the anticipation and excitement most of us feel when flying, particularly in our younger days: chance encounters, the frisson of exchanged glances, the departure from mundanity and journey to the lands of endless possibilities. - DC Shifty

If Eros wrote his autobiography in the first person, it would read like this. If Kerouac's trip had been around the world in planes instead of a car, he would have written it like this. If Bukowski had loved travel the way he loved bars, he would have hammered out this prose. And to top it all off, the pages just turn themselves. Order it, make yourself a double, and enjoy. - M. Scott Myers

Only one word comes to mind, “Brucekowski”. – Amazon customer

The writing style of this novel is very poetic and absolutely beautiful. B. McLaren has an amazing way of portraying different topics and uniting them all in a wonderfully flowing story. – The BookInspector blog

Product Description

A young man’s flight of fancy. A series of sensual encounters. An epic journey that will either lead to destruction, enlightenment, or both.

He loves exotic travel and alluring women, preferably together. Embarking on a lifelong journey across the world, a razor-sharp academic delights in highly sensual encounters with the opposite sex. As each experience deepens his philosophy, he experiments on a quest for something more, suffering several hard landings along the way.

But drink, ambition, and tragedy eventually send him down a bumpy path of self-destruction. If he doesn’t moderate his excesses, his original journey will only go in one direction… into a death spiral. Will a determined man learn from his travels or will his hedonistic vision send him crashing down to earth?

Turbulence is a rich and poignant literary novel. If you like sizzling indulgences, intriguing encounters, and anti-heroes with attitude, then you’ll love Bruce McLaren’s extravagant adventure.

Buy Turbulence to soar into a journey of self-discovery today!
