About the Author
Alice Waters is a chef, author, food activist, and the founder and owner of Chez Panisse restaurant in Berkeley, California. She has been a champion of local, sustainable agriculture for over four decades. In 2015 she was awarded the National Humanities Medal by President Obama, proving that eating is a political act, and that the table is a powerful means for social justice and positive change.

In the entire US, the editors of this book would have you believe that there aren’t any people of color who are culinary rockstars. Not really understanding that. One of the editors is a person of color, although I think she's from newer immigrants and she is not old school African American.
Yes, African Americans do run food establishments other than BBQ shacks and, shocker, they can be tastefully creative with food!
