It’s going to take a fight, I know that. But it’s more than just a fight for my life. It’s a fight for my soul and my soul mate.’
Jazzy Williams is not your average coffee-loving teen. She's battling depression, an overprotective big brother, and a depressed mother, all while trying to make friends at her new school. In the first week, she meets a gorgeous green-eyed hottie who turns out to be more than just some high school crush -- he's more than human. And she unknowingly enrages a dangerous breed of demon who wants her soul and life as payment. With the help of supernatural friends and protectors, Jazzy thinks she's safe until what remains of her family is put in danger. Does Jazzy have what it takes to save her family, life, soul, and soul mate, or will all be lost?

“In most YA novels, the love is instant. In True Connection, Jazzy & Seth’s love grew slowly. That’s what makes this book so special.” – New York Times best selling author, Emma Hart
“Wonderful first in a new paranormal series, you may just call out sick to finish this book.” – Carey Heywood, author of Stages of Grace and Him
“Rachel Walter takes the soul mate bond to a new level in True Connection. It’s a fresh take on what it’s like to connect to someone from the supernatural world.” – Crazy Book Chicks

Alrighty...so this would be a solid 4 star read for me except for one tiny little thing. All I could think about though the whole book was the Twilight series. The plot line seemed familiar: meeting on the first day of a new school, a human winding up with a mystical supernatural being sole mate, a wolfy shifter protection detail and a group of life-sucking beings (including a curly-haired redhead) after the main character Jaz. All that being said though, the story still managed to suck me in and hold my interest. The details provided about each species (???) of supernatural beings were well thought out and very interesting.

The clincher for me was the cast of secondary characters. While I liked Jasmine and Seth, I feel like the story glossed over some of the more interesting parts of a new relationship and the sole mate aspect was accepted a little too quickly by everyone. The secondary characters though, especially Barry and Skeeter, made the book for me. The dynamics of their relationships, both with Jaz and the other characters, spoke to me more than the love interest.

Without spoiling the plot too much more I will say I am looking forward to book 2 in the series. I want to see what happens with Henry and the rest of the gang. My fingers are crossed that Barry ends up with a fantastic story because I truly love him and I can't wait to see how Skeeter develops.

When i started reading i wasnt sure id like it...im a picky reader. But sp glad i picked it up. As a mom with several high schoolers it was nice to be reminded my kids are really young adults.
The story was a little predictable but in a good way (its not a mystery!). I told myself one more chapter and next thing i know its almost 3am!
The story was fun and i kept turning the page. Jaz and seth were lovable and relatable. Barry? Everyone knows a barry! Skeeter and henry were great support characters too!
At first there were too many names and people and i found myself pausing to try and place the names with their role (wait. Who was sam agaon? Oh yeah!) not because they werent great but just a lot of names.
The plot was fun, the details were pleasant and all in all it was a great story and im excited to read the rest of the series

Rachel Walter has weaved this mystic world that you really want to be a part of! I loved this book. I was sad when I had to put it down to tend to life. Jazzy and Seth are a dream! I love their relationship. It's exactly perfect for their age level, yet a relationship that anyone at any age, including me in my thirties, can appreciate. My teen daughter loved this book, too. It was perfect for her.

Rachel has taken her time with her characters, and the growing relationship each has to one another with regard to their interesting predicament! The characters are beautifully flawed, especially Jazzy, and Rachel captured this perfectly. Jazzy's pain in certain scenes was so real, that you just wanted to hug her, but then you see that spunky girl pick right back up and be that tough girl who won't let anything get her down. She selfless, she loving, she's innocent, but she's got an edge to her for sure.

The book has wonderful genre elements including romance, suspense, and of course it's action-packed.

If you think you've read every kind of paranormal out there with shifters, demons, etc., you're wrong. Pick this book up today. You won't be sorry. Looking forward to book two!
1.0 out of 5 stars Did I read the same book as everyone else? 4 January 2016

This book drove me crazy! First off I felt that the whole story was just Jazzy & Seth hooking up ...that's all they did... The ending was pretty much rushed into maybe 2 chapters.. The author spent the ENTIRE book leading up to a very anticlimactic ending!!! I will not be wasting my money on anymore of her books!!!

If you liked the Twilight Saga, then you will love this. Very well written, the characters remind me of people I know. We all know the sarcastic bad ass who is actually a big teddy bear. Or the girl who cant seem to not hurt herself on an almost regular basis. It is a book that has moments of sadness, and moments of happiness and a few that I found very funny.
