Lisette, expecting Jerry’s invitation to Homecoming meant the dance, was greatly disappointed to find herself attending the Homecoming football game instead! Note to readers: When a game is described as involving football plays made by a werekangaroo, wereseagull, cyclops, satyr, and such, the reader will need to keep in mind that Lisette belongs to the world of shifters and paranormal creatures, so the life around her is never “normal” to the rest of the world. But Lisette was bored because football didn’t allow magic or shifting like other sports did. So she sat texting her best friend, Kegan, about the awful time she was having. Jerry hadn’t even glanced at her since the game started. She was totally ignored.
Deciding to leave, Lisette spotted her older sister – but she was sitting with the opposing team fans! So she headed over to see why she was there. Her sister told her the opposing team was cheating! As a werehawk, her vision was exceptional and it would not be surprising if she saw something no one else did. But her sister would not tell her who or what happened, so she began listing all the creatures and what they were capable of and asking, one by one, if that was the one who cheated! The cheerleaders were mocking the other teams back and forth, getting more and more insulting. Collette was staring hard at the troll cheerleader and Lisette realized that must be the cheater! But Collette refused to take any action, so Lisette shifted to her werevulture form and attacked the troll! The only problem was, when Collette flew down and stopped her, she explained that “cheating” had meant the troll was cheating with Collette’s boyfriend! The coaches from each team stormed over to express their own angry opinions; and paramedics arrived to check on injuries. Massive chaos ensued!
The author gives us a delightful, crazy story with her characteristic humor! The story line is whimsical and clever. What’s going to happen to Lisette now? Has she ruined everything in her misguided attempt to find justice and fairness? You can be assured there is plenty of laughter as everything tries to sort itself out!
