362,000+ Original miles on my 2006 GMC Sierra 5.3 Vin B. HO. I am the original owner. I take meticulous care of this vehicle which is mostly highway miles.
Tribo TEX results at the first 2500 miiles since last oil change: 1.8% increase in gas mileage. (16.7 to 17.0 MPG). Slight increase in oil pressure. 26 to 27 psi @ 550 rpm idle, 45 to 47 psi @ 1800 rpm 70 miles per hour. Previous oil consumption:one quart of oil every 4,000 miles. Currently at 2500 miles since the oil change with Tributex added, results so far: It has used about 1/2 of a quart of oil, straight lining for 8/10ths. of a quart of oil usage (20% improvement in reduced oil consumption, this validates the rings are sealing better). As far as claims about running quieter, my old engine runs very quiet due to synthetic oil changes every 4k. So I do not hear a difference.. See YouTube videos for sound meter testing (<3db?- not noticeable to the human ear). (I installed a Melling 10296 high volume oil pump (quieted noisy lifters) which did make my engine quieter at 272,000 miles) . As far as claims of engines running cooler...the thermostat controls the engine temperature. I must conclude it is helping my old engine, however, not sure if it is reducing tolerances between main-rod bearings as there is no way to plastic-gauge my bearings. I think some claims in other reviews are a bit optimistic (I also tried to drive the same pertaining to gas mileage before and after TTEX). I have tried to accurately quantify my results for your benefit knowing every engine-circumstances are different. Tribo TEX was making a difference up to 1000 miles and then after 1000 miles no noticeable difference, (break in period 500 miles per TT). Will update if any changes. Based on my results so far I would buy it again at 40,000 miles interval(s). Small quantifiable differences are very big to me and my old 5.3. Going for 400,000 miles on my GMC Sierra. I hope TTEX helps me get there.. Thanks for reading..
TriboTEX is a synthetic nanomaterial that reverses wear in your engine. Using TriboTEX reduces your cars fuel consumption, prolongs the life of your engine and protects the environment by reducing CO2 emissions. TriboTEX is a revolutionary breakthrough in engine coating technology. Conceptually the technology is straight forward. The material science however is quite sophisticated; engineered, synthetic nanosheets are designed to be slick on one side and sticky on the other. During normal engine operation, when added to oil, these nanosheets attach to metal surfaces (sticky side down), particle by particle, leaving the slick sides facing outward. After 500 miles, of normal driving, internal components are coated with a porous, lubricious tribofilm exhibiting excellent embedibility and oil retention. The slippery surface contains select catalysts, incorporated by design, facilitating the formation of a Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) cap on top. Originally these self assembling coatings were developed for improving performance of gearboxes under the grueling demands of wind turbines. The TriboTEX platform was constructed with 1 million dollars of research and development support from the National Science Foundation and NASA. Treats most vehicles, such as Ford F150, Toyota Camry, BMW 3 series, Dodge gasoline pickups, and Chevy V8s. For engines less than 2.0L use our small engine version and for large diesel pickup engines please use our diesel version. For scientific data about TriboTEX please message us here on Amazon. For diesel truck owners: TriboTEX permanently removes stiction.
