Tina and Blake are from two totally different worlds, both have controlling parents who can't or won't seem to listen to what their children want or need. I was captured from the start, seeing how 'safe' one can make their life and also waiting to find out exactly what kind of 'problem' a billionaire can have.

All the characters in Trade Me are superbly written, I loved them all, no matter what agenda they may have, they were so embraceable, it was like I truly knew them

This was an fantasticly well written book, totally different from Courtney's usual historical romance style, and shows just how amazing she is as an author, a must read. Can't wait for the next book.

I started reading this book with a bit of trepidation. I hate the billionaire guy/ poor girl storyline in modern novels and avoid it at all costs. However, it is by Courtney Milan - an author who isn’t afraid to turn book clichés on their head and always writes smart, spunky female characters, so I had some level of trust that she could do it well. I devoured this book in one sitting.

Tina really resonated with me. I loved her and felt I knew her. While I found Blake to be undeniably sexy, he was at times almost too good and humble to be real so I felt a slight disconnect from him (unfortunately he’s no Smite Turner).

I gave this book five stars because it stands out against so many other bad books written with this plot device. In comparison to Ms Milan’s other books it wouldn’t be on my all-time favourite list, however I could be biased because I am a huge fan of her historicals. Having said that I’m really looking forward to see what she does with Maria and Jay’s story in the next book in the series!

Ms Milan isn’t afraid to give more people a voice in a field saturated with white, upper class protagonists. She writes real characters and relationships of equality and respect. We desperately need more writers like her.

I will admit to my shallowness: the gorgeous cover caught my eye. If you like the cover, you will like the book! Then I looked at the name: Courtney Milan! TRADE ME is not a historical romance, a first for the author, and it is a resounding success! Great characters, superb writing, a clever story; it has everything! I finished the book – at around 400 pages – within a few hours: it is that captivating! Do not miss this fabulous read! Ms. Milan has penned an excellent New Adult novel and I can’t wait for the others!

As far as New Adult goes, this book wasn't too bad. It had very witty dialogue, not so many tropes, and the heroine's mother and hero's father were brilliant scene-stealers in their own right. The heroine was Chinese and so I was pleased about that, and the hero, whilst very rich, was not a douchebag. What are the odds?!

But for a book whose plot says that the characters trade places: him for her poorer lifestyle and her for his, it really didn't focus on that at all which is a shame because that would have been an interesting dynamic. The romance at times felt rushed or unconvincing but the witty repertoire did make up for that. The ending also seemed a little ludicrous. That said, it was a fun and refreshing read and I'm glad I tried it.

There is at the end, a list of books that follow it: where are they?
I could not find them. Other then the short story about when the parents meet...
which was delightful enough to make me buy this one.

Does Cyclone Book 2 and 3 etc exist?
I usually, really do not like books with "followup" but Courtney Milan's characters and stories are round. At the end there is always a satisfying feeling. And we remain with the characters in us, wishing them good and success.

I always know what I'm going to get with Milan, and so I was willing to follow her into contemporary romance just because she wrote it. She is definitely one of the most talented and thought-provoking writers in the genre. So Trade Me didn't disappoint. I particularly loved the relationship between father and son. And father was hysterical with his colourful language. And the Say No to Drugs talk he had to give (after the end of the actual story) was funny but absolutely spot on. I wish it actually got out there to the people who should see it. Write faster Ms Milan. I need more!

This book, to be honest, had blown away and took me by surprise. I did not expect the route that the basic plotline took me to. I was thoroughly engaged and mesmerized by the journey the characters took. Speaking of characters, Blake's dad and Tina's mom are interesting and, at times, hilarious characters. They equally made this book for me. Courtney Milan's first dabble into contemporary romance is something to behold and I'm so looking forward to the next books in this series.

bc it's courtney milan this is a billionaire life swap with a conscience and call-outs and a painful depiction of living hand-to-mouth. (it also depicts mental health issues pretty brilliantly and compassionately.) i tend to find the sex scenes less romantic than in regency lit due to modern word/idiom usage, but i'm a squeamish person by nature anyway, so that may not hold true for most people. i love how wide the scope of it is. it's a romance novel that's about so much more than just romance. it's about family, too, and the complicated, messy, but ultimately super-loving relationships both the characters have with theirs. it's about hope and freedom and while it has a killer romance it doesn't present love as the sole solution to all problems and for that alone i love it the mostest.
